Writing doesn’t have to feel like a chore - it can (and should) be fun. If your creativity feels stuck, try shaking things up a little: Write a scene in a completely different genre than your book. Add a ridiculous plot twist just to see where it goes. Give your main character a secret they’d never willingly admit. Change the setting to somewhere unexpected. Or set a timer for 10 minutes and write without overthinking a single word. Sometimes the best breakthroughs come when you stop trying to “get it right” and just let yourself play. Your story might surprise you - and you might actually enjoy the process a whole lot more. #AmWriting #WritersLife #CreativeWriting #WritingTips #AuthorLife

A STRONG MANUSCRIPT ANSWERS 3 CORE QUESTIONS. Just like purpose often answers 3 core questions, before you submit that manuscript, ask yourself these 3 core questions: 📕Who is this book for? Don't say or assume it's for everyone who loves books. Have a definite answer. A specific hunger. The writer who knows exactly who they're writing for makes choices with precision. What to include, what to cut. If your audience is blurry, your message will be too. 📗Why now? Why should this book exist at this time and age? What conversation is it entering? What urgency does it carry? What menace is it addressing? What problem is it solving? Timing isn’t just about trends, it’s about relevance and necessity. 📔Why this voice? Not just a voice. Your voice. The one that couldn't have been written by anyone else. What authority, experience, or emotional truth makes your voice the one we should trust with this story? What's your voice bringing to the table? If you can't answer any of these questions or still struggling to answer, a book consultant will fill the gap. Clarity is what separates a draft from a manuscript that’s truly ready and that's why I am working on something practical, and honest to help you access your work before you send it out or hit publish. If you’re currently writing, editing, or sitting on a manuscript you’re unsure about, stay glued to this page. #ManuscriptReady #BookEditing #LiteraryAgent #AuthorLife #WritingAdvice #BookConsultant #BookCoach #SeriousWriters

Editing Tip from a Book Editor: Don’t Be Afraid to Cut Your first draft can be messy. Your editing should be intentional. It’s not easy to remove well-written sentences, but strong writing depends on precision. Every word should serve a purpose. If it doesn’t, it weakens the whole. The most effective books are not longer. They are sharper, clearer, and thoughtfully refined. Be willing to cut. Your story will be stronger for it. #EditingTips #BookEditor #WritingCommunity #WritersOfLinkedIn #LessIsMore #EditingProcess #TheEditDerr

This is one of my favorite writing tips. Can't figure out where to start or what to write? Try the 10- minute brain dump exercise. Grab a pad and pen, and set your timer for 10 minutes. (No cheating - have to use paper and pen) Then just write. Yes literally write. Of course, the ideas you write should be centered around the message of your book. There's no editing or censoring. There's no right or wrong. Once you get started you're going to find out you unlocked a treasure trove of ideas. #writingtips #writenonfiction #womenwhowrite

Most “5 books that will make you a better writer” lists are built to sound smart. This one is built to make you better. These are the books that took me from blogging to ghostwriting and publishing professionally. Not because they’re inspirational, but because they force you to get better at the parts of writing people like to ignore. Showing up. Thinking clearly. Cutting what doesn’t belong. Understanding what a reader actually experiences on the page. King will kill the fantasy that writing is about inspiration. Strunk and White will tighten your sentences whether you like it or not. Steinbeck will remind you even the greats wrestle with the work. Logical fallacies will wreck your bad arguments in the best way. And Heller and Vonnegut will show you what’s possible when you actually understand the rules before bending them. There are different ways to tell a story. But if you don’t have the basics, all you’re doing is making noise. If you want the full breakdown, I put it together here: Also, the links in the article go through TSAB’s Bookshop.org page, so if you grab one, the shop gets a little kickback. That helps us keep putting good books in people’s hands. Check it out at: https://lnkd.in/gwARUbYv #writinglife #amwriting #writersofinstagram #bookrecommendations #indiebookstore #bookshoporg

Most books don’t fail because of the idea. They struggle because of how that idea is presented. A strong concept is only the beginning. What truly shapes a book’s impact is how it’s refined, structured, and experienced by the reader. Clarity in writing. Consistency in tone. Precision in presentation. That’s what transforms a manuscript into something readers connect with — and remember. Because the journey from draft to finished book is where the real difference is made. #AuthorJourney #WritingProcess #WritersOfInstagram #SelfPublishing #AuthorLife #AmWriting #WritersCommunity #BookWriting #Storytelling #IndieAuthor #CreativeWriting #PublishingTips #WritersLife
