You're top of mind. As we head into commencement, I've been reflecting on what's been a remarkable year here at Berkeley. We've been tested in ways we didn't always anticipate. But I'm heartened that our community continues to come together and that we've never wavered from our mission. Because Berkeley is more than a place, It's a promise. A promise of the freedom to teach, to learn and discover. To question the status quo, to pursue knowledge and ideas that have impact. And this year, we saw that promise fulfilled in some extraordinary ways. One example Mofar a team of Berkeley students who took Nobel Prize winning technology and built a startup that captures methane emissions from dairy farms. Turning a climate problem into a new revenue stream for struggling farmers? That's Berkeley. And it's a reminder of why this university is one of society's greatest assets, not just for what happens within these walls, but for the impact our students and researchers have on the world beyond them.
