This week in miles ahead, cyber security power Bike Asia. We're talking all things LinkedIn, most likely the very platform you're watching this on and how attacks have jumped over the past six months. So what's gone down? Well, cyber criminals have been exploiting LinkedIn with more sophisticated attacks at the tail end of 2025 and into 2026, with cyber criminals impersonating recruiters, executives, tech support staff or even trusted connections to exploit the platform. Professional credibility. Yikes. Common schemes include. Like job offers, equipment purchase or onboarding scams, phishing links and steel credentials, or install malware account takeovers used to target a victims network with fraudulent investment or outsourcing opportunities, just to name a few. Scammers often build convincing profiles using stock images, vague job titles and stolen employment history, then create urgency or trust based narratives to pressure victims into sharing personal data, sending money or moving conversations off platform. Or the fraud is harder to trace. Some tips to reduce risk so you are not. Next, users should research companies and recruiters independently. Of course, avoid any employer that asks for payment or sensitive information. This seems smart and easy to figure out, but it's not. And of course, treat unsolicited offers of too good to be true investments with skepticism. That is all great advice. Warning signs include incomplete profiles, low engagement, generic roles, and requests to communicate. By external apps, all know knows protective steps include using strong passwords, enabling 2 factor authentication, keeping security software updated and avoiding suspicious links. If a scam does occur, victims should report the account through platform, secure the credentials, log out of unknown sessions and contact authorities or legal support if personal data or money was compromised. Scary times right now and of course, stay safe out there.
