Operational Technology (OT) has been a prime target for malicious actors for a variety of reasons. OT may sit outside the traditional IT domain and IT security may not have full visibility of OT systems and their potential vulnerabilities. Given the role of OT, updating and patching such systems can also be a challenge. On September 29th, agencies from a group of seven nations, including the National Cyber Security Centre, Communications Security Establishment Canada | Centre de la sécurité des télécommunications Canada, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), published a guidance document for OT security. Well worth a read. As stated in the NCSC's blog post, "If you can’t see your whole OT environment, you can’t truly defend it. This guidance will help you gain that visibility, turning fragmented knowledge into a definitive, living record, and enabling you to protect the OT systems, services and supply chains that matter most." #infosec #cyber #resilience #OT #operationaltechnology
