What type of symmetry does the structure have? Does it achieve visual balance? This important principle is perhaps the easiest to identify. It refers to the visual balance, which in its most basic form can be categorized as symmetrical balance or asymmetrical balance. Symmetrical: Whatever you place on the right of the building, you also put on the left. It is almost as if one side of the building is a mirrored reflection of the other. Although, note that some design elements can vary slightly from side to side. When a building is the same on the left side and right side, such as common skyscrapers, this is referred to as bilateral symmetry. You can also have a symmetrical building that reflects across a horizontal axis in the middle of a building—where the top of the building is the same as the bottom. Examples of symmetrical buildings include the United States Capitol Building, Taj Mahal, Pantheon, and Baiturrahman Grand Mosque. - https://bit.ly/3RnWa48 #symmetry #architecture #chicago

This study is an investigation of an office building developed through different mass organizations. The aim is to create a simple, legible, and functional architectural language within a dense urban fabric. Alternatives have been shaped through the vertical-horizontal balance of masses, the use of terraces, and the relationship between public and private spaces. The structural system is designed as exposed reinforced concrete; facades feature matte glass surfaces and natural stone cladding. Micro-textured plaster was chosen for horizontal lines, with a color palette defined by neutral tones and low reflectivity. Each variation tests different spatial solutions within the same structural system. 🎧 Music by Beatcord: 👉 https://www.beatcord.com #architecturaldesign #modernarchitecture #materialexpression #facadedesign #designalternatives #urbancontext #structuralclarity #formstudies #contemporaryarchitecture #spatialorganization #architecturalconcept #urbanintegration

𝘼 𝙣𝙚𝙬 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙪𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙣 𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢 𝙬𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙣 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙡 𝙩𝙚𝙭𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙚𝙨. Set within a dense forest, this concept envisions a 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 that harmonizes glass transparency with full-height black-framed glazing, bold horizontal lines at each slab defining the floors, and horizontal louvers that articulate the façade, allowing the built form to echo the surrounding canopy. Pocket terraces along the upper levels open the façade to greenery, offering breathing spaces within the vertical form. The earthy-toned, reflective façade mirrors the forest, creating a seamless visual integration between architecture and nature. Designed to balance 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆, the tower frames a new dialogue between urban form and organic texture, redefining how business spaces can exist within green landscapes. A seamless coexistence- where material warmth meets forest stillness. As your architect, I want you to understand the why behind every detail. This design is a masterclass in sustainable architecture. We didn’t just build a house; we built a system. The intricate JALI SCREENS, crafted from repurposed materials, aren’t merely decorative. They are climate controllers, allowing for natural ventilation and diffused light while creating mesmerizing patterns on the walls throughout the day. The central water feature isn’t just for aesthetics; it’s a passive cooling element, lowering the ambient temperature through evaporation. . . .#synecticsarchitects #architecture #InteriorInspiration

What can ancient amphitheatres teach us about modern design? Parallel walls? Expect flutter echoes. Curved surfaces? Think natural diffusion. Architects can draw inspiration from historical spaces to solve modern acoustic challenges. By considering geometry early, you avoid costly retrofits and ensure your design supports clarity, comfort, and purpose. 💡 Collaborate with acoustic consultants during the concept stage, not just at fitout. Even small shifts in form can make a big difference in how a space sounds, and feels 👇 Find out more in the comments #acoustics #architecture #officedesign #workplacedesign

“The Built Environment” by Wilson Costa “This piece is more of a political statement to depict how the built environment can affect nature. The columns represent tall leafless trees in the forest. The concrete floors are dried out soil. The lack of colour represents most architecture today which is very monochromatic and dull without paying homage to the nature around it. The architecture industry needs to embrace nature more by incorporating living walls, green roofs, natural light and colour.” Software used: SketchUp, Photoshop #Architecture #ArchitecturalDesignv #ArchitectureLovers #ModernArchitecture #ArchitecturalInspiration #ArchitecturalPhotography #ArchitectsLife

Intrinsic School transformed a shuttered lumberyard into a dynamic learning environment, playing a pivotal role in revitalizing the neighborhood. Existing wood trusses, solid wood columns, and brick walls—many over 100 years old—are enveloped by a contemporary insulated metal-panel facade system and a new spray foam roof, creating a thermal cocoon around the historic structure. Over 75% of the original building was preserved, restored, and left visible within the learning spaces to connect students with the site’s industrial past, subtly highlighting the environmental and aesthetic value of reuse. New exterior walls on the south and west sides enclose the entry and circulation areas, with abundant windows integrated into the paneled facade. Inside, a "ship in a bottle" approach was used to create a two-story steel-framed structure within the existing building, visible from the main lobby where the new construction overlaps the old.
