At the recent EMCC Mentoring Conference in Florence, I (Rainer von Leoprechting) was reminded how deeply mentoring is woven into my professional life. For many years, I’ve designed and led mentoring programs inside organizations — always with the aim to create genuine spaces for learning and reflection between people who share a professional journey. What struck me again in Florence is how much administration still surrounds these programs: tracking sessions, collecting feedback, ensuring quality. All necessary — yet all too often a burden for both mentors and mentees. That’s why I’m now integrating an AI companion into my mentoring design. An invisible co-facilitator that listens, prompts reflection, captures insights, and provides structure — so that mentoring can stay what it’s meant to be: a human conversation that changes how we see ourselves and our work. The result? → No more admin or survey overload. → Ongoing documentation and accountability — effortlessly generated. → More space for what matters most: learning, growth, and connection. This feels like the next natural step in the evolution of mentoring. And I look forward to connecting with others exploring this frontier between human wisdom and intelligent systems. #Mentoring #AIinLearning #LeadershipDevelopment #EMCC #HumanCentricAI #innerdevelopment

Running a mentoring programme sounds simple: match mentors and mentees, then let the relationships unfold. In reality, it’s rarely that easy. When we polled programme managers across sectors, 75 percent said keeping participants motivated was their biggest challenge far ahead of matching or recruitment. It’s a reminder that effective mentoring isn’t a one-time setup. It’s a journey that needs structure, engagement and support from both sides. Here are a few lessons we’ve learned from 17 years of designing mentoring programmes: - Go beyond one-to-one meetings: add group check-ins, workshops or reflection spaces. - Track progress so participants can see growth over time. - Celebrate milestones to keep energy high. Behind every thriving mentoring programme is a manager balancing purpose, process and people. It’s complex work but when done well, it transforms organisations. 👉 What do you find hardest to sustain in your own mentoring programmes? #MakeMentoringWork #MentoringDesign #LeadershipDevelopment #NationalMentoringDay #TheHumanEdge

🌱 Coaching Young M&E Professionals: A Living Form of Knowledge Management In M&E, we talk a lot about systems, frameworks, and indicators. But one of the most impactful forms of Knowledge Management (KM) isn’t found in a database—it’s found in people. 👥 Coaching and mentoring emerging M&E professionals is KM in action. It’s how tacit knowledge—those hard-earned insights, contextual judgments, and lessons learned—is passed on and kept alive. Here’s why it matters: 🧠 Tacit Knowledge Transfer: Not everything can be captured in a report. Coaching helps bridge the gap between theory and practice. 🔄 Sustainable Learning: When experienced professionals invest in the next generation, they build a culture of continuous improvement. 💬 Peer-to-Peer Knowledge Sharing: Creating safe spaces for dialogue, reflection, and feedback fosters collective intelligence. 🚀 Accelerated Capacity Building: Young professionals gain confidence and competence faster when guided by those who’ve walked the path. If you’re a seasoned M&E practitioner, consider this: every hour you spend coaching is an investment in the future of our field. And if you’re just starting out—seek out mentors, ask questions, and share what you learn. 📣 Let’s make KM personal. Let’s make it human. #MonitoringAndEvaluation #KnowledgeManagement #Coaching #Mentorship #MEL #CapacityBuilding #DevelopmentEffectiveness #KMInPractice
