A game-changer is quietly shaking the foundations of the video animation industry. Alibaba's recent release of Wan-Animate-14B, an open-source AI model with 14 billion parameters, is outperforming established giants like Runway and ByteDance in generating realistic character animations. This breakthrough not only threatens traditional market leaders who thrive on high prices but also democratically opens creativity to smaller studios and independent creators. Imagine producing high-quality animations at a fraction of the cost! Yet, it’s vital to note that while the capabilities are impressive, challenges like computational demands and quality control remain. This landscape shift stresses the urgency for businesses to innovate rapidly or risk obsolescence. As we adapt to these rapid advancements, the future belongs to those ready to embrace open-source solutions and redefine their strategies. The animation industry will never be the same again! What are your thoughts?

Nvidia open-sourcing Audio2Face, their tech that turns speech into real-time facial animations. This isn’t just a fun demo — it could reshape how we build digital characters, avatars, and even video content with true expressiveness. The ones who lead won’t just use the tools — they’ll guide them with vision, responsibility, and thoughtful strategy and alignment. https://lnkd.in/gqy6-XDS

From Physical Model ⇌ Render I’ve been testing Gemini’s new AI tools, pushing workflows between sketches, renders, and physical models. From a sketch to develop a render -> physical model -> animation, and from physical model to develop a render. What stood out is the level of control, uplifting design explorations and adding the flexibility to transform quick ideas into refined visions on the spot. As designers and Architects, leveraging AI across all stages of design opens up powerful ways to explore more ideas, test more possibilities, and keep the creative process fluid. It’s less about replacing intuition and more about amplifying imagination and #storytelling. OBM International #ai #Artificialintelligence #design

Humanoid Robots on a Typical Friday? Maybe in a few years. This week, I combined the latest open-source WAN tools from Alibaba Group with Gemini, added it with ComfyUI, and integrated my own workflows. The result: WAN’s new Animate tool is impressive. WAN 2.2 is essentially an upgraded version of 2.1, trained with 65.6% more images and 83.2% more videos. The Animate model, based on WAN 2.2, uses reference videos to generate pose animations. To get started, you need two things: a reference image and a reference video to guide the animation. Take your smartphone, have yourself filmed while playing with your dog, and transfer the poses onto your desired character. The improvements in WAN 2.2 mean smoother animations, more accurate poses, and faster workflow integration. Excited to see how these tools will continue to push creative possibilities in animation! #ai #comfyui #wan #commercials

Hyper-Realistic Palm Tree Animation | Human Touch vs AI Motion Proud to present my hyper-realistic palm tree — animated and rendered with full attention to detail, realism, and natural motion. The model features a 150-frame seamless loop, physically accurate 4K materials, and dynamic leaf movement — all crafted manually using Houdini and rendered in V-Ray, Arnold, and Corona. In a comparison with Sora 2 (AI animation), the difference is striking: AI-generated motion shows almost no dynamic movement — only minor pixel shifts. Meanwhile, the handcrafted Houdini animation breathes life into every leaf and date cluster, achieving true realism and energy. This isn’t a criticism of AI — it’s a celebration of how far human artistry still leads, while AI continues to evolve toward that creative precision. ""Artificial intelligence is good, for example, this text was written by artificial intelligence, and I'm glad that it has made my job so much easier to write explanations. I can easily talk to GPT chat and it writes everything for me.""
