🤖 Nigerian Princes are overtaking our politics #online Because #Disinformation is a profit model. 📍 When #X began revealing user locations, something embarrassing happened for a whole swath of “white Christian Conservative Nationalists” with millions of followers: They turned out to be… posting from Nigeria. Or Bangladesh. Or India. Meaning: ❌ Not white ❌ Not Christian ❌ Not American ❌ Not nationalists ✔️ Outrage entrepreneurs They farm outrage for clicks: blaming migrants, Democrats, LGBTQ people, whatever generates engagement - because it gets them paid. 📊 If you live in a country where the median income is a few hundred dollars a year… …and you can make Western dollars by pretending to be a “concerned citizen” in the #USA or #EU and posting inflammatory nonsense… Why wouldn’t thousands of people start doing it? This creates a tidal wave of noise: 💩 We can debunk a single speck of this BS…but they produce BS by the truckload - because the BS itself is profitable. You cannot “fact-check” your way out of a system where lies are more profitable and thus scale faster than truth. Where disinformation is literally a #business opportunity. And this is only going to get worse. ☝️ So next time you see an online "concerned citizen" from your country spewing outrage rhetoric, remember: They might not be from your country at all. PS: Other examples include Polish "Nationalists" criticizing #Ukraine whose VPNs come straight from russia. Or "European farmers" on #SocialMedia who are actually from Pakistan. Or "Texans" who only publish at late at night...

☝ Note many Developing Nations are Christian too, just not the 'right' kind of Christian according to MAGA. Who dismissively refers to them as "3rd Worlders" (apologies for using this term) while the Influencers they listen to are in fact from those same Developing Nations...

So good that Texas has warm water port ...

This is incredibly spot-on. Thank you for highlighting it Marijn Markus More people need to call out how absurd, and at the same time predictable, this whole dynamic has become. What makes it almost comical is how transparent the mechanics are once you look closely. These supposed “concerned citizens” are in reality global outrage entrepreneurs who have simply found a profitable niche. When falsehoods generate more money than truth, we end up with an information ecosystem where fabricated identities grow faster than real voices. It is also an important reminder not to get swept up by every loud opinion that flashes across our feeds. Behind many of these profiles there is no connection to the culture, experience or society they claim to be defending. There is only a business model. By putting words to this, you help more people recognize the pattern. It makes all of us a bit harder to manipulate and a bit more willing to pause and ask the essential question: who actually benefits from this? Keep sharing insights like this. It is how we begin building our collective immune system against digital disinformation.

Wise words from European voice!

I notice tons of "Russian" Facebook accounts created after 2022, with only few photos, which posts dedicated to support of Putin & his oligarchs.

Very interesting post. Thank you for sharing

These accounts were paid for by someone else, that is the problem - not the fact they are based in Bangladesh and elsewhere. There is a huge disinformation campaign run by non-American players, and that is what it should focus on: The money trail.

Seems like you open America! 🥇it’s from beginning of the Internet, people pretending and playing what ever role is profitable. It’s work vice versa - it’s information/disinformation war. Only one thing, past president (Biden) was letting real (not online) illegals in to the country that easy, so they can vote for democrats
