My own product journey to market started by pitching my idea to a huge multi-billion dollar retail company.
This was definitely a roller coaster ride with lots of ups and downs.
Some of the down moments left me feeling devastated and lost, while other moments sent me to the moon with excitement.
Such is the life of an entrepreneur:)
In my latest YouTube video I share a personal story about pitching my product to this big company, including both the emotions I felt and the results I achieved.
Of course, this is just my story, but there are many lessons you can apply from it even though your own story will always be unique.
I was searching through the archives and came across this video from 2008. Dive into the inspiring journey of the REA Group, which started as a small startup in a suburban house near Melbourne and has grown into a global real estate powerhouse.
Here are three key takeaways from the conversation:
The Power of Complementary Roles: The founders emphasized the importance of having a diverse skill set within a team. Each member brought unique strengths to the table, allowing them to tackle different aspects of the business effectively.
Embracing Challenges: Building a startup is never easy. The founders shared their struggles, including long hours and the pressure on personal relationships. However, their passion for creating something valuable motivated them through tough times.
Vision for the Future: The early days were filled with uncertainty, but their belief in the potential of the internet and the real estate market drove them forward. They recognized the need for a centralized platform to simplify property searches, ultimately transforming the industry.
Tune in to hear more about their incredible journey and the lessons learned! 🎧✨

If you don’t INNOVATE, you’ll EVAPORATE!
I’ve been to wondering what to do with my old Blockbuster Video membership card, then while I was at James Sinclair’s Business Masterclass event in London I had a brainwave!
I decided to frame it as a reminder to me and my team of #rocketeers that we need to always be innovating 💪
I think it’s a fitting tribute to what happens when you become complacent and stop seeking to improve.
So come on, what reminds you of a valuable business lesson?

Pivots, Tumble Turns, and the Stunt Pilot Award 🎖
Sometimes, I feel the most meaningful moments grow out of challenging times…
Last week, I had the privilege of participating at Mavcon in San Diego, a powerhouse of 60+ entrepreneurs.
To my shock, I was honoured with the Stunt Pilot Award. 🏆
What made it even more surreal? Having Troy Dean, one of my mentors, present it to me.
Troy said, “Pivot, then pivot again while in mid-air, do a few tumble turns, and then land with style and grace.” That really hit home.
These past few years have been exactly that—pivots and tumble turns in all directions. Here’s a bit of what it’s taken to keep this journey airborne:
Pivot #1:
After nine amazing years with my business partner, I bought out Alex at Growth Gurus, stepping into a new chapter.
Pivot #2:
Restructured the business. This meant making hard calls—including redundancies—and taking bold steps like introducing our new uncapped income model.
Then came the tumble turns:
TumbleTurn #1:
Relaunched the reborn Growth Gurus brand leading into GGX, with AI, automation, and sales tech at the core. 🛫
TumbleTurn #2:
Launched our expanded B2B Growth System and the Digital Strategy Roadmap product.
And all this while embracing fatherhood with my baby girl, Serafina, and taking a stake in Motileo! It’s been the wildest, most fulfilling ride of my life.
Winning this award is a reminder that the pivots and turns, no matter how intense, are part of the journey.
To anyone feeling the chaos, remember: the view from the other side is worth it.
Let’s keep lifting each other up. We’re all navigating this flight called life together!
So, I’m curious -
What’s been your biggest pivot this year?
I had the incredible opportunity to hear @Mark Randell—Former Adobe’s Chief Strategist, 2x Emmy Award Winner, and a true pioneer in the world of film, TV, and technology—speak at our JC Sea program this morning. It was a game-changer.
ps. that purple box was one of the awards
Mark has worked closely with legendary innovators and top execs at Intel and NVIDIA. He shared the rise and fall of all of his company's in the past.
But what struck me most was Mark’s approach to customer discovery. He’d literally fast (go without food) until he secured a customer conversation and tested 211 different ideas for every one product that made it to market throughout his career.
His philosophy? Try every possible way to kill your idea. If it survives every challenge, and you cannot kill it even if you wanted to thats how you know to take that to the market.
His words was when the idea evolves into a velociraptor trying to get out of a cage, open the doors and let that baby run.
This perspective lit a fire in me: our product should be so compelling that it practically breaks out of its cage. We owe it to ourselves (and our customers) to pressure-test our ideas relentlessly. If you can’t kill it, you build it.
Feeling inspired to push boundaries in the pursuit of meaningful, unstoppable products!
