It's my birthday!! Here are 10 things I would have told myself 10 years ago: 🍊 People who are happy and successful will never try to tear you down (this brings me sympathy for those who do) 🍊 Everything is marketing: getting the promotion, getting the job, getting your kids to clean up - all about how you frame things. 🍊 Make friends through business, but don't do business with friends 🍊 Write the book SOONER (the impact of "Reverse the Search" has been so much larger than what I was imagining) 🍊 The best return on investment is investing in yourself 🍊 People with no real expertise will tell you you're wrong. Don't let it stop you from trying to keep helping people. 🍊 Fast, imperfect action is a super power. Keep learning as you're doing. 🍊 Find people who are doing what you want to do and copy their path. Pay them well or give them lots of value in return. 🍊 Don't blame your situation on others or the general state of the world, focus fiercely on what you can control. 🍊 You're on the right path, keep going! Thanks for being with me this year. I've dedicated myself to career coaching for the past 8+ years in addition to my human resources career, and I'll tell you, things feel vastly different than they did 4 years ago. It's tougher in the job market, but even as a business owner and content creator. I've seen so many of my peers who were around when I started either fold or pivot their business to move away from the job search space since many people in the audience will take their anger out on creators who are trying to help and make a living. But I am firmly not going anywhere. Each time I am feeling attacked, I go read the amazing reviews you all have left for my book "Reverse the Search" - there is nothing more meaningful to me than a positive review from someone whose life has changed because of the book!! Or I focus my attention on my wonderful clients who are working hard everyday to make it happen for themselves, and I am the lucky person they chose to come with them on the adventure. Thank you for your love and support. Here's to another year, wifi high five!!
Madeline, happy First Day of Spring birthday twin! Your work really inspires me — the motivation, the strategy, the clarity, and the way you just “get it” when it comes to careers and humans. I’m grateful for the light you put into the world and the way you help people see what’s possible for themselves. You are making a difference—and that’s the true birthday gift to yourself. Keep shining that brilliant, unmistakably “you” energy.
Happy Birthday Madeline 🥳

Happy birthday, Madeline. Thank you for the way you show up for others, helping people move from “I don’t know how” to “I can do this.” You have a gift for helping others see what’s already in their hands as valuable and worthy, not lacking or incomplete. I’m grateful for the impact you’ve had on me and so many others. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead.
