Hypothetically speaking... your coworker's preferred working style is for you to do their work. How do you respond?

Support is part of strong teams, but ownership is what sustains performance. When responsibility becomes unclear, output drops and accountability disappears. The real solution isn’t working harder for others, it’s building systems where ownership, contribution, and outcomes are visible so collaboration stays productive instead of becoming dependency.

That is exactly the kind of working style that breaks teams. If someone’s preferred style is for other people to do their work, the answer is not better excuses, it is better operating systems. This is where I think LinkedIn could become much more powerful by integrating more deeply with Microsoft and the broader Microsoft Suite. Imagine LinkedIn Groups functioning like live project hubs, tied directly to shared OneNote notebooks, task ownership, meeting notes, project timelines, and visible contribution trails. Then work stops being vague social positioning and starts becoming traceable execution. What interests me is the bigger idea underneath this: the beginning of a true project economy. Not just jobs, not just networking, but temporary and permanent clusters of people organizing around actual deliverables. If LinkedIn Groups connected seamlessly into Microsoft tools like OneNote, Teams, Planner, and Excel, you would create a workspace where responsibility is visible, knowledge is shared, and contributions are harder to hide. In that kind of system, the person who wants others to do their work would be exposed quickly, because the notebook, the task flow, and the output history would tell the real story.

I’d start with curiosity, not confrontation. Something like: ‘I noticed you’ve been handing over a few tasks that seem like they fall under your scope — just want to make sure we’re aligned on roles so we can both stay efficient. Happy to help where it actually makes sense, but want to make sure we’re clear on ownership.’ Sets a boundary without burning bridges, and keeps the focus on team performance rather than blame.

I would not carry his/her load while he/she meanders around all day and pretends to work. I would redirect, decline any request and I would ask them what prevents them from doing it. I would also privately keep a journal of those encounters. As it persists and if this person is fraudulent in "pretending to work", and clocking in and getting paid. I would definitely talk with my supervisor and or our compliance department as that is not part of our culture or values. If things do not change. It is one thing if a co-worker needs help on a project. It is totally different if they are not pulling their weight on what they were hired to do. The loss of either revenue or the companies' resources Transends to other departments, regarding his unproductiveness. You must address it. It might be to salvage this worker that they may need extra training and clarification on what he needs to do. You weight out the reasons why you should keep him or let him go. You have options firing them is not always the answer. It depends on his personal employee worth.

LinkedIn I am writing to urgently request your assistance in regaining access to my LinkedIn account. Currently, I am experiencing a critical issue: the email address associated with my account is no longer active, and my registered phone number is also no longer accessible due to relocation to another country. At the moment, I can only access my profile through my mobile device, where I am already logged in. However, I am unable to log in on any other device, including my computer. Additionally, I cannot reset my password or verify my identity, as both my email and phone number are inaccessible. I have attempted multiple times to resolve this issue, including trying to update my account details, but I am unable to proceed due to the verification limitations. This situation is extremely urgent, as LinkedIn is a key platform for my professional career and job opportunities. I kindly request your support in: • Updating my account with a new email address and phone number • Verifying my identity through alternative methods (such as ID verification) Please let me know what steps I should follow or what information you require from me to resolve this issue as soon as possible. Thank you very much for your time Mirko Hernández

Setting clear boundaries is essential for maintaining a healthy and productive team dynamic. While collaboration is key, it’s important to ensure that responsibilities are balanced so everyone can focus on their own primary objectives. Navigating these conversations with transparency helps keep the entire workflow on track.

It’s been a frustrating 48 hours being disconnected from my professional community on mobile. 😔 Despite updating my password on desktop, I’m completely locked out of the @LinkedIn app. No verification codes (OTP) are arriving via SMS or Email, leaving me stuck in a loop. 💔 It’s disappointing to lose access to my network and workflow like this. I really need a solution. 🛠️ @LinkedIn Help — please look into this technical glitch. hashtag #LinkedIn hashtag #LinkedInSupport hashtag #TechnicalIssue hashtag #LoginError hashtag #Help hashtag #Frustrated hashtag #Networking The phone is Android, and I opened another account on the same phone, and it opened easily.

Clear boundaries are not unprofessional… They’re necessary.🎗✨️💡 Helping a colleague is teamwork. Doing their job is misalignment. I see this often in real work environments — and it usually reflects leadership gaps, not employee attitude. Curious how others are dealing with it.
