At Lightsource bp, safety is fundamental to our aim of delivering projects with zero harm, and with predictably and long-term value in mind. We recently caught up with William Manchas, CSP, CHST, Head of HSE for USA and EMEA, to talk about why safety is a key ingredient in successful project delivery - and how it acts as a real “yardstick” for quality. “When we embed safety and risk mitigation early in development, project execution tends to be better,” says Will. “It doesn’t start at construction or operations. Built in early, safety helps protect assets and deliver more predictable outcomes.” By building safety into projects from day one, we’re able to help prevent unplanned outages and technical failures; keeping people safe while protecting long-term asset value across our global portfolio. ☕ Read more from Will on how embedding safety early helps reduce risk, avoid delays and protect critical infrastructure here: https://brnw.ch/21wZDUw #WeAreLightsourcebp #RenewableEnergy #Safety #ProjectDelivery #AssetManagement #IPP
Lightsource bp: Embedding Safety in Project Delivery

“An ounce of prevention…” really resonates with me. Over the years, I’ve seen too many projects where safety and performance slowly eroded — not because people didn’t care, but because risk wasn’t thoughtfully designed out early enough. When we don’t invest the time upfront in strong design, clear roles, and organizational maturity, the cracks eventually show. And once you’re in construction or operations, you’re usually managing consequences rather than preventing them. Embedding safety early isn’t about adding friction. It’s about creating certainty. It’s about: ✔️ Better execution ✔️ More predictable outcomes ✔️ Stronger assets ✔️ Fewer surprises ✔️ And, most importantly, people going home safe Prevention isn’t flashy. It doesn’t always make headlines. But over time, it’s what separates resilient projects from fragile ones. Proud to work with teams who understand that getting it right early is the real competitive advantage. #SafetyByDesign #Leadership #RenewableEnergy #RiskManagement #ProjectDelivery #WeAreLightsourcebp

When strategy, sales, legal and delivery teams sit in the same room to talk about risk, you know something important is happening. The participation of Semco Maritime and WindMultiplikator in the ARMSA Construction Safety Law and Practice course in Hamburg reflects a wider shift in how leading wind service providers are approaching construction. What’s becoming clear across the European wind services sector is that construction safety, when approached properly, is not a compliance exercise. It’s a strategic tool that directly influences credibility, competitiveness and the ability to enter new markets with confidence. Real risk doesn’t usually come from the obvious places. It emerges when: ⚠️Contract and regulatory frameworks are misaligned ⚠️Sales ambition outpaces project delivery capability ⚠️Technical scope evolves faster than project management capacity ⚠️Prevention through design thinking is absent from early decision-making During the course the teams came together to explore how pre-emptive risk thinking can be embedded into organisational DNA rather than being bolted on at the end. That’s how you move from compliance to capability. From firefighting to foresight. A special nod to Stephen Booth for recognising how HSE, when leveraged well, can underpin a people-centred, high-performance organisation and accelerate delivery. This is what mature risk leadership in offshore wind looks like. #renewableenergy #safetyfromwithin

Projects rarely struggle because of intent or investment. More often, they struggle in execution. Managing multiple crews. Coordinating subcontractors across states. Maintaining safety standards. Tracking licences, accreditations and compliance. Overseeing invoicing, reporting and governance. As projects scale, complexity increases, and without structure, risk increases with it. At Connek, execution is our main focus! We manage hundreds of crews nationally, providing end-to-end operational oversight from mobilisation through to installation, compliance and project completion. Our ISO-accredited systems support consistent safety standards, licensing and accreditation management, subcontractor governance and financial controls. We don’t simply assist projects; we provide the operational framework that enables them to run efficiently and compliantly at scale. Battery, Solar, EV infrastructure & much more. For organisations expanding, entering new regions or increasing delivery capacity, structured execution becomes essential. One partner. National coverage. Clear accountability. Proven systems. We manage the complexity so our clients can focus on delivering outcomes. #RenewableEnergy #BatteryStorage #SolarAustralia #EVInfrastructure #EnergyTransition #InfrastructureDelivery #ProjectManagement #WorkforceManagement #SubcontractorManagement #Compliance #SafetyLeadership #NationalDelivery #CleanEnergy Matt Huddle Brent Barnes, GAICD Karly Barnes Sean Donnelly Ed Fisher Ryan Surgett

Over the years, a clear pattern has emerged. The clients who get the most value from FELCO tend to be structured Facilities Management companies and property teams. That alignment isn’t accidental. FM environments are process-driven. There are approval thresholds. There are reporting standards. There are compliance responsibilities sitting behind every instruction. Electrical contractors operating in that space need to understand governance as well as technical delivery. Our approach to commercial reactive and maintenance work is built around that reality. Jobs are assessed and prioritised properly. Findings are documented clearly. Costs are communicated before they escalate. Certification and paperwork follow as standard, not as an afterthought. The aim is to make life easier for the facilities team managing multiple pressures at once. While urgent issues will always happen in commercial buildings, long-term relationships built around structured support are where genuine reliability is delivered. For Facilities Management companies looking for an electrical partner who integrates into their systems rather than disrupting them, FELCO is designed to fit. 🌐 https://fel-co.uk 📞 01803 472423 #FacilitiesManagement #CommercialElectrical #PropertyManagement #ElectricalCompliance #BuildingMaintenance

Over time, a fairly clear pattern has emerged for us. The clients who tend to get the most value from working with FELCO are structured Facilities Management companies and property teams. That alignment isn’t accidental, it comes down to how work is organised, approved and delivered. FM environments are built around process and governance. There are reporting requirements, compliance responsibilities and multiple stakeholders to keep informed. Electrical contractors operating in that space need to understand that context, not just the technical task in front of them. This is what we’ve shaped our approach around: clear assessment, proper documentation, early communication on costs, and certification being part of the process rather than an afterthought. Long-term reliability doesn’t come from reacting well once. It comes from integrating properly into a client’s systems and reducing friction over time.

Installation and integration are often treated as downstream activities, yet they consistently determine delivery outcomes. When interfaces between equipment, contractors, and infrastructure aren’t aligned, even fully available components can become a source of delay and cost pressure. These risks are rarely visible early, but they accumulate quickly once execution begins. Understanding where integration breaks down is becoming just as important as understanding the supply chain itself. How are your teams currently identifying and managing these risks earlier in the project lifecycle? #renewableenergy #energytranstion #RAE #renewableadvisoryexperts

Solar and technical contracting companies often scale faster than their compliance systems. Projects multiply. Documentation does not. Audits then expose: • Missing fall protection plans • Unverified subcontractors • Incomplete safety files Scaling operations without scaling compliance creates silent exposure. Technical industries require structured oversight, not assumptions.

🌊⚓ In the meeting room, everything fits — at sea, everything is proven. A large part of my professional experience has been shaped by innovative technologies: offshore prototypes, pre-commercial phases, and “one-off” projects. I’ve lived execution risk first-hand and, perhaps because of that, a few years ago I set out with my partners to build BlueNewables. Over time, you start to see clear patterns. Projects tend to fail when there are: ⚠️ Decisions made too late — or too early without evidence. 🧾 Permitting delays — and sometimes internal bureaucracy/egos that block the path. 💸 Unclear CapEx: either too risky to invest, or painful overruns if underestimated. At BlueNewables, we work phase by phase to avoid that “death along the way”: ✅ Conceptual / pre-FEED: compared options, decision-making, CapEx-first thinking + early risk identification. ✅ FEED: de-risking CapEx and execution (interfaces, logistics/installation, critical requirements, evidence). ✅ FID readiness: critical items resolved and a clear roadmap to detailed engineering and contracting. Technology matters — but projects rarely die because of a calculation.🔥 They die when critical risks make it all the way into execution. Close them early. 🚀 We’ve turned years of offshore execution experience into a repeatable, phase-gated service: At BlueNewables, we deliver engineering and EPCI management that turns uncertainty into decisions and evidence—helping projects reach FID with critical risks closed, CapEx protected, and a clear delivery roadmap. 💬 Feel free to reach out if you’d like to discuss a project. #Offshore #Renewables #Engineering #ProjectDevelopment #CapEx #FID #RiskManagement #EPCI #EnergyTransition
