Understanding the impact of access to technology at home can help educators advocate for the needs of their students. Knowing about community partners like Kramden Institute, who can help bridge the divide is empowering for educators. #digitaldivide
Today I had the opportunity to hear from Laura B. Fogle about the digital divide- specifically in the area of education- in my ECI 201 (Introduction to Instructional Technology for Educators) class at North Carolina State University. I learned how important it is to advocate for equitable access to technology for all students to meet their individual needs. In North Carolina, there have been many efforts to bridge the gap between students who have reliable access to technology and those who do not. Some of these initiatives include Digital Durham, The Kramden Institute, Raleigh Digital Connectors, NC Student Connect, and more. I was especially inspired when Laura told us that she was able to obtain a device for a student who needed one through The Kramden Institute, which you can learn more about here: https://kramden.org . Overall, this experience helped me better understand how to create equal learning opportunities for my future students and ensure that each of them can succeed through access to technology. 💻 #ECI201
