AI relies heavily on data, and Sentinel's new data lake has significantly enhanced this capability by eliminating previous cost barriers that hindered the ingestion of large volumes of data. This improvement allows you to effectively operationalize that data and utilize playbooks through agentic AI.
Really inspired by how Microsoft Sentinel is moving into the agentic AI era. It’s no longer just about monitoring but about giving defenders real intelligence and speed. The idea of Sentinel as a true co-pilot for SOC teams resonates with me - helping us cut through noise, act faster, and build resilience. Feels like a big step forward in making security smarter, not just stronger

Yesterday Microsoft announced it is integrating agentic AI capabilities into Sentinel, its Security Information Event Management (SIEM) platform. The announcement continues a trend of SIEMs adding AI capabilities -- first gen AI as natural language interfaces, and now agentic AI to enable proactive investigation, triage, and remediation. It was inevitable that SIEMs would start integrating agentic AI. Security teams are managing more threats than ever before, and need new measures to combat analyst fatigue, inconsistent response workflows, and other challenges. Adoption tends to lag in CISO organizations for good reasons -- the stakes are high, change is difficult, and vendor claims always need to be validated. Nonetheless change is coming, and here it is. https://lnkd.in/eZhuxCnT

Cybersecurity is entering a new chapter, and it’s powered by agentic AI. Microsoft has just announced major updates to Microsoft Sentinel, transforming it from a traditional SIEM into a unified, agentic security platform designed for today’s complex threat landscape. What’s new? ✅ Sentinel Data Lake (GA) – A unified repository for structured and semi-structured security data, enabling richer historical analysis and faster threat detection. ✅ Graph-Based Context (Preview) – Maps relationships between entities (devices, users, alerts) for deeper insights and attack path tracing. ✅ Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server – Lets AI agents reason over unified data and automate tasks like triaging alerts and enforcing policies. ✅ No-Code Agent Builder – Build custom Security Copilot agents using natural language with no coding required. Why it matters: As organizations evolve into “frontier firms” where humans and AI collaborate in real time, defenders need tools that operate at AI speed. Sentinel now empowers security teams to correlate signals, automate responses, and innovate boldly, all while maintaining transparency and governance. This is more than an upgrade; it’s a paradigm shift in how we protect digital estates in a multicloud, multiplatform world. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gX6g44Gf

🏗️ A SIEM for the agentic era: is the in-house SOC becoming a more attractive option than outsourcing it to an MSSP? ✅ Control & context: Own your telemetry, data lake, and AI orchestration - no dependency on third-party processes. ✅ AI integration: Move toward AI-orchestrated, context-driven defense where intelligent agents act, learn, and adapt at machine speed. ✅ Data sovereignty & regulation: Keeping sensitive logs and AI models inside your own tenant simplifies compliance. ✅ Own the intelligence - share the execution: Own your data, AI models, and governance, but partner with mature providers for Vulnerability Assessments, Incident Response and Threat Operations. My view is that in the Enterprise segment in-house SOCs will rise again, assuming organizations will invest in technology, people, data, and governance. On the flip side, the SMB segment is a better fit for a cost effective scalable 24/7/365 SOC like Fortinet's FortiGuard SOCaaS. https://lnkd.in/d4Bc2MkX
