We said no to two acquisition offers. Here is why: In the past year most of our competitors in the AI security/safety space have gotten acquired. Feels like consolidation season! Lakera acquired by Check Point Software (~300M) Pangea Cyber by CrowdStrike (~260M) Prompt Security by SentinelOne (~250M) CalypsoAI by F5 (~200M) Invariant Labs by Snyk (Undisclosed) Protect AI by Palo Alto Networks (~700M) Why? Because CISOs want everything in one place. Cloud, endpoint, identity, now AI. Nobody wants a separate dashboard for every feature. That’s how cybersecurity has always worked: horizontal and consolidated. The problem is that AI doesn’t fit neatly into that model. Traditionally, cybersecurity has been a layer on top of deterministic systems — scanning configurations, patching vulnerabilities, and monitoring known surfaces. With non-deterministic systems, that paradigm collapses. Execution paths are learned rather than coded, and defense can’t rely on static interfaces or predefined controls. Oversight and security have to move inside the reasoning process itself to track how a model interprets instructions, forms plans, and acts in context. The infrastructure for that doesn’t exist yet and it won’t look like today’s SIEMs or API gateways. This is precisely what we are building.
