Here’s how I engineered realistic rain with extreme optimization: ➤ 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮-𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 + 𝗕𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 60,000+ raindrops rendered in a single draw call using 𝘀𝗳::𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲𝘅𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗮𝘆 - 100x performance boost compared to traditional object-based rendering. ➤ 𝟯𝗗 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Manual yaw/pitch rotations + perspective math create the illusion of “looking up” into infinite rainfall. ➤ 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝘀 Hundreds of low-alpha textures blended with additive techniques form gaseous, glowing storm clouds. ➤ 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵-𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗙𝗼𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 Custom luminance interpolation fades distant elements into pitch black, adding realistic depth. ➤ 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗦𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗲𝘀 Raindrops collide with the ground, spawning secondary droplets with realistic bounce dynamics. ➤ 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗯𝘂𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗿𝘆 Layered sine waves simulate gusts, slanting both rain and clouds unpredictably. #GameDev #Cplusplus #SFML #GraphicsProgramming #ShaderDevelopment #Optimization #RainSimulation #VolumetricRendering #IndieDev

Real-Time Automated Terrain Generation Enhanced ⊲ Remograph ⊳ Remograph has released Remoscape v1.4, an update to its automated terrain-generation tool for real-time 3D visualisation. The Swedish company, based in Linköping, develops products and services across the visual simulation, 3D modelling, and computer graphics sectors. After receiving some sage wisdom from a mentor of mine, I've re-edited my tutorial on integrating 3D graphics into videos with After Effects into a FAR shorter format. Using this technique provides a visually interesting way to convey information using captions in video. I'll leave the longer video up (which can be found on my profile), but moving forward I'll try to edit these videos down into a shorter and more easily digestible format.

𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐢𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭 I recently built a custom Frustum Culling system from scratch using Maya's Bifrost. While my initial approach of calculating every single vertex against the camera matrix worked, it quickly became computationally expensive in scenes with millions of polygons. It was a great "aha!" moment to see firsthand why the industry standard relies on Bounding Boxes (Aperture-based) or Bounding Spheres for high-performance culling. Implementation Highlights: 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Used the Camera's Inverse Matrix to transform world coordinates into Camera Space. 𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Calculated the valid X and Y visibility bounds for any given depth (Z) based on Focal Length and Aperture settings. 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Switched to Bounding Sphere logic, drastically reducing the calculation overhead and ensuring real-time performance. If I were teaching a 12-year-old what a vector field is, I’d say this… Think of a graph. Not one of those dull line graphs like you learn in school. This one is more than just a line - it's filled with motion. Forces moving, swirling, interacting with each other. You can describe any forces using this kind of graph - which is called a vector field. Wind, smoke, the movement of pigeons, the connection between the orbit of a satellite and the weather. It's done using lots and lots of little arrows. They describe how strong the force is at that point. Spaced out in 2d (or multidimensional) space, they provide a continuous representation of how things move all along the surface. They can be used for things like partical effects, advanced 3d graphics, or designing systems of motion in games. Also, understanding the world around you. Why things move the way they do - whether they're chaotic, turbulent, smooth, rotating, bouncing or oscilating like a pendulum. Once you can command vector fields, you have the whole physical (and abstract) world of change at your fingertips. ...It's been a while since I've done this.
