Jawad Tahir’s Post

#PhinisheD A slightly old update, but last week I successfully defended my publication-based Ph.D. dissertation titled “Resilient Stream Processing: A Journey Through Benchmarking, Containerized Deployments, and Academic Tooling”. In my dissertation, I explored the performance and reliability of Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, and Apache Storm. I also developed a Kubernetes-based performance benchmarking system for distributed ML workloads, called Challenger, which has been used to benchmark submissions for the ACM DEBS Grand Challenge – a programming competition for distributed query processing. Lastly, I developed pTA to automate the grading of students' submissions in the course I was teaching. Please head over to the publication section of my profile to know more about my work. I am thankful to supervisor Arno Jacobsen and my advisors, Ruben Mayer and Christoph Doblander, for their continued support and mentorship throughout this journey.
