At IDAA Studio, we are always looking for ways to push the boundaries of architectural visualisation and make every project more immersive, efficient, and true to the design vision. In the early stages of our journey, Lumion was our go-to rendering tool. Its speed, intuitive interface, and easy learning curve made it perfect for quick visual iterations and client previews. As our projects grew in complexity and realism became a core focus, we transitioned to D5 Render, a move that has transformed our workflow. Why D5 Render? Real-time ray tracing delivers exceptional lighting and reflections without long render times. Seamless integration with design tools such as SketchUp and Revit streamlines workflows. Material and asset libraries are rich, customizable, and constantly expanding. The rendering quality rivals traditional offline engines while keeping the process interactive. For post-production, Adobe Photoshop remains our trusted companion, where we fine-tune colour balance, atmosphere, and composition to achieve that final touch of realism and emotion. Each tool has its place in our creative process: Lumion for speed and concept visualisation, D5 for realism and performance, and Photoshop for artistry and refinement. In the end, the tool is only as powerful as the vision behind it, but the right tool can make that vision shine. #ArchitecturalVisualization #Rendering #D5Render #Lumion #PostProduction #Photoshop #ArchViz #3DRendering #DesignWorkflow #ArchitectureDesign #VisualizationStudio #IDAAStudio

Stop modeling "EVERYTHING" in your design from Scratch. Kitbash If you’re still building every object, detail, and prop by hand, you’re working harder, not smarter. Kitbashing isn’t “cheating.” It’s professional efficiency. Film studios, game developers, and top ArchViz artists do it all the time. The goal isn’t to model everything it’s to build believable worlds faster. 1. Use high quality asset kits as your foundation 2. Customize, tweak, and blend them for uniqueness 3. Focus your time on lighting, storytelling, and atmosphere, the things that actually sell the vision Efficiency is a skill. Creativity is how you use it. How much of your last project could’ve been kitbashed instead of modeled from scratch? Ever opened a SketchUp or FBX file and felt completely lost inside a massive model? This update changes that. ✨ ModelPort now imports SketchUp and FBX scenes as interactive camera views. Click a camera in the 3D window — it animates to that exact scene. Click the same camera in the item list — same smooth move. You can now: 📸 Reorder scenes alphabetically or by drag-and-drop ✏️ Rename, duplicate, or delete scenes in one spot 🎯 Adjust field of view by percentage for tighter or wider shots ⚙️ Set custom transition speeds for faster reviews or slower walkthroughs 🙈 Hide or show cameras in view settings for a cleaner workspace How would you use shared scenes for consultant models, team reviews, or client walkarounds? Any scene-naming conventions that keep your teams organized? 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gnrDzaMQ 👇 #Archicad #SketchUp #BIM #ModelPort4Archicad

For years, I’ve been asked the same question: “How do you make your SketchUp models look that realistic?” Well… I’ve finally turned the answer into a complete course. An Introduction to V-Ray for SketchUp is now live. Across 9 in-depth, easy-to-follow episodes, I’ll take you from a basic SketchUp model to cinematic, photorealistic renders that look like stills from a movie. We’ll cover: • Lighting (day and night setups) • Materials and textures • Atmosphere and environments • Post-production in Photoshop All 3D assets are included, and you can even follow along with the free 30-day V-Ray trial. If you’ve ever wanted to create renders that wow clients and elevate your work — this is the course I wish I’d had when I started. 👉 Learn more and enroll here: https://lnkd.in/e6NGbCac

Comparison of 3Ds Max and Sketchup 🔹 3ds Max Advanced 3D modeling & rendering software High-quality photorealistic outputs (V-Ray, Corona, Arnold) Ideal for architectural visualization, interiors & animations Requires a powerful PC and has a steeper learning curve Common in professional studios & high-end visualization work 🔹 SketchUp Beginner-friendly and easy to learn Great for quick 3D modeling and conceptual designs Lightweight and works even on mid-range systems Limited rendering compared to 3ds Max, but still useful for fast design workflows #3dsMax #SketchUp #ArchitecturalDesign #CivilEngineering #Rendering #DesignTools

Smooth projects don’t happen by accident. They happen because both sides prepare. Before the first render is even started, a great visualization project is already taking shape. Clear goals, well-chosen references, and a shared understanding of the process are what make collaboration between a client and a 3D artist or studio truly effective. From our side, we guide you through each stage: Planning the creative direction Modeling and refining details Setting up lighting and materials Test renders and revisions Final delivery Each stage has its own priorities, requirements, and timelines — and the better both sides understand them, the smoother the process will be. From your side, the ideal starting point includes: Detailed technical drawings A 3D model (if available) Material specifications Moodboard or reference images Notes on what you like — and what you don’t The more complete the initial input, the fewer misunderstandings, the faster the turnaround, and the closer the results are to your vision. As artists, we also bring our own input: inspiration, creative proposals, suggestions for better shots or materials, and guidance on style and mood. Because good collaboration is always a dialogue — not a one-way process. Good preparation = great results. If you want your next visualization project to run smoothly from concept to final render, let’s talk.

So, what is SketchUp? It’s a 3D modelling tool that helps turn ideas into visuals and David Kemshall put it to excellent use on our recent Amsterdam job. He was so keen to help the client see their vision come to life before build day, Dave taught himself the software from scratch and used it to map out the full event setup in 3D. It meant closer collaboration, smoother communication, and a final result that matched the plan perfectly. Big shout-out to Dave for putting his SketchUp skills to the test 🙌 Curious how 3D modelling could bring your next event to life? Chat with Dave and see how his visual approach can help shape your vision - hello@eventspace.productions

Some might say sketching is outdated in the age of digital tools, but I believe it’s anything but! 🧐 While 3D renderings and software are essential, a hand-drawn sketch offers something unique—creativity and human connection. Sketches invite collaboration, and they allow the client to feel part of the creative process. Plus, sketches offer flexibility that’s often hard to achieve with a fully rendered model. It’s not about replacing technology, but rather using sketches to complement your digital tools and streamline the early stages of the project. Do you still use hand-drawn sketches in your practice? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #SketchIsNotDead #TimelessArchitecture #CreativityInDesign #UrbanAndNature #ArchDesignSketches #ArchitectureAndNature #SketchingOutdoors #ArchLandArt #BuildingAndNature #ArchAndLandscapeArt #CityAndNatureSketch #DesignSketching #ArchVisualization #LandArchArt #SketchingScenes #ArchitectureInNature #LandscapeArchitecture #SketchArt #ArchScapeSketching
