Across Asia, conversations around optimization are becoming increasingly practical. Recently, Gurobi partnered with OAT to host a technical workshop in Nanjing, China, where engineers, researchers, and industry practitioners came together to discuss how mathematical optimization is being applied to real operational challenges. Rather than focusing only on theory, many of the discussions centered around implementation—advanced modeling techniques, MINLP, solver architecture, deployment considerations, and how optimization can support more executable business decisions in complex environments. One thing that stood out throughout the event was the level of technical engagement from the local community. The discussion extended well beyond solver performance into broader questions around modeling strategy, production deployment, and real-world adoption. As optimization adoption continues to expand across the region, collaborations between local partners, technical communities, and industry practitioners are key to building a stronger optimization ecosystem.
