💧 Non-Revenue Water Quick Tip: Accuracy Over Acceptability In the world of water utilities, Non-Revenue Water (NRW) is often viewed through a simple lens: the lower, the better. But is that always true? 📊 A utility with a brand-new network reporting 10% NRW might seem more efficient than one with a 100-year-old network reporting 15%. But context matters. Every network faces unique challenges: - Age and condition of infrastructure - Water availability and cost - Environmental pressures - Financial sustainability - Operational complexity Focusing on an “acceptable” NRW figure can mask the real story. Instead, utilities should prioritize having an accurate NRW figure—one that reflects the true state of the network and informs smarter decisions. ✅ Because when you understand your losses, you can manage them. ✅ When you measure accurately, you can invest wisely. ✅ And when you stop chasing arbitrary benchmarks, you start building resilient systems. Let’s shift the conversation from acceptable to accurate. #NonRevenueWater #WaterUtilities #AssetManagement #WaterLoss #SmartWater #UtilityPerformance #EngineeredIntelligence #NRW #WaterSustainability

💧 In the dynamic water solutions industry, Xylem Inc. and American Water Works Company, Inc. emerge as key players, each addressing vital water management challenges but from different angles. Xylem, a leader in water technology, is dedicated to innovative solutions that enhance sustainability and efficiency, aiming for substantial revenue growth and a strong market presence in multiple regions. In contrast, American Water Works, with a century-long legacy, focuses on providing regulated water services to millions across the U.S., emphasizing reliability and community engagement despite facing liquidity challenges. Financially, Xylem shows robust profitability and consistent growth, while American Water Works offers stability but struggles with fluctuating net income. Their strategies reflect this divergence, with Xylem investing heavily in innovation and digital transformation, whereas American Water Works emphasizes infrastructure improvement within a regulated framework. This National Water Week, we’re joining the call to #BringWaterIntoFocus - because Australia’s next infrastructure challenge is already flowing beneath the surface. According to Oxford Economics (full report: https://lnkd.in/diuNhJjt), population growth, climate uncertainty, and industrial demand, especially from data centers, are putting unprecedented pressure on our water systems. The findings are clear: another major wave of investment in bulk water infrastructure; pipelines, water treatment plants, desalination plants, storage, and wastewater recycling is on the horizon. But with rising delivery costs, stretched supply chains, and a national skills shortage, the sector faces significant challenges. At Bellwether Consulting Services, we see this as both a risk and an opportunity. Water infrastructure is the backbone of housing, energy transition, and regional development. Ensuring these projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and sustainably will require the same project discipline, commercial acumen, and delivery capability that Bellwether Group brings to complex infrastructure nationwide. Let’s work together to strengthen Australia’s water future, chat with our Water Lead Henry Zhang to explore how Bellwether can support your next project. #NationalWaterWeek #BringWaterIntoFocus #WaterInfrastructure #Sustainability #ProjectDelivery #BellwetherConsulting
