A good idea sitting on a shelf changes nothing. In the nonprofit data world, the true value isn’t just in collecting data or generating insights; it’s in putting those insights to work. When you use your data, whether by building dashboards, visualizing trends, or sharing actionable stories, you move from theory to impact, helping funding decisions get smarter, programs get stronger, and communities see real change. In other words, unused data is potential wasted. Data applied is transformation unlocked. ✨ Put your data to work. That’s where the value lives. #nonprofitdata #datavisualization #dataforgood #socialimpact #nonprofitleadership #datadriven #missiondriven #datastorytelling #nonprofitstrategy #nonprofitgrowth

Another powerful session at The Bridge last month! As part of our three part Data Series, we explored how to connect data to the value proposition. As highlighted in the brief, one idea stood out: data as leadership. True insight comes from measuring what matters. By this I mean linking metrics to intent. When you use data not just to analyse, but to expand how others see and solve problems, that is real leadership in action. As always thank you to everyone who joined our problem-solving session and I look forward to continuing the conversation at our next session on October 21. #DataLeadership #ValueProposition #DataDriven #Innovation #TheBridge #Leadership #ProblemSolving #DataStrategy #ContinuousLearning
This month, The Bridge took a pivot, away from answers and into questions. We explored how linking data back to value propositions can shift reporting into reflection, and reflection into real impact. #BridgeBrief #Impact #Data #Nonprofit #PurposeDriven #ValueProposition

Most charities think they’re not ready for data. But the truth? You probably already have more than you realise. 💡 The problem isn’t lack of data — it’s lack of visibility. It’s sitting in spreadsheets, event platforms, CRMs, email tools, JustGiving exports, survey results… waiting to be connected. When we run “data readiness” workshops, this is usually what we find: 1️⃣ The data already exists — just in silos. 2️⃣ Teams underestimate how valuable “imperfect” data can be. 3️⃣ Leaders think they need dashboards before they start learning. Here’s a simple 3-step audit I use to help charities get unstuck: ✅ List the 5–10 data sources you already touch each month. ✅ Identify one key question you wish you could answer. ✅ Match each source to that question — where’s the overlap? That’s your starting point. No fancy tech. No data warehouse. Just a clearer map of what you already own. Because the charities doing data well aren’t the ones with the biggest budgets — they’re the ones who decided to start small and stay curious 👉 What’s one dataset you already collect but underuse? #TechForGood #NonprofitLeadership #DataForGood #DigitalTransformation #FundraisingInnovation

Data by itself is just numbers on a screen. What matters is the meaning you see in it. For nonprofits, that means moving beyond spreadsheets to uncover stories, stories about who you serve, the challenges they face, and the impact your work creates. Long story short, clear data visualization and thoughtful analysis turn raw numbers into insight, insight into decisions, and decisions into lasting change. 👀 Don’t just look at your data. Ever feel overwhelmed by data? 📊 In a #BigData world, #Nonprofits are told to measure everything—but intellectual discipline means knowing what not to measure, too. In our latest blog, we break evaluation planning into 3 simple steps to help you cut through the noise and focus on what matters most: 1️⃣ Determine Why – clarify purpose and audience 2️⃣ Determine What – define the right evaluation questions 3️⃣ Determine How & When – plan data collection and reporting Remember: Data is just an input. The real value comes from the insights it produces. 💡 Read the full post: https://lnkd.in/gjPHXBRM #NonprofitLeadership #ImpactMeasurement #EvaluationPlanning #SocialImpact #TheoryofChange #LogicModel #NonprofitFlywheel

Ever felt like your charity is stuck collecting data but not learning from it? In reality, data maturity is about how well your organisation learns from the data it already has. Here’s the model I use when helping charities assess where they are — and where to go next. Level 1: Reactive You’re collecting data, but using it mainly for reporting. 📊 Tip: Start by asking, “What decision could this help us make next time?” Level 2: Organised You’re cleaning, structuring, and starting to trust your data. 🧩 Tip: Build shared definitions — what does “supporter” or “engagement” actually mean to your team? Level 3: Insightful You’re analysing trends and starting to act on them. Tip: Create simple feedback loops — share what you learn with teams who can use it. Level 4: Strategic Data is shaping decisions, not just validating them. 🚀 Tip: Empower teams to test, measure, and adapt regularly. No charity moves through these stages overnight. But the key is to keep moving — from collecting data → to using it → to learning from it. You don’t need perfect systems to get there — just consistent curiosity. 👉 Which stage best fits your organisation right now? #DataForGood #CharityDigital #NonprofitLeadership #DigitalTransformation #TechForGood

Data isn’t cold. It’s stories waiting to be told. Every line in a report is a person — someone who gave, shared, volunteered, or trusted your cause. But somewhere along the way, many charities lose that connection. We talk about “retention rates,” “conversion,” “average gift value”… and forget that behind every percentage is a person with intent and emotion. When we humanise our data, something powerful happens: Reports start turning into reflections. Dashboards become mirrors for impact. And teams reconnect with the why behind their work. The best data teams I’ve worked with? They don’t just count numbers — they tell stories that drive empathy and action. So next time you open a dashboard or export a report, ask yourself: 👉 What story does this data want to tell? And maybe, just maybe, that story starts with someone’s name. #DataForGood #CharityDigital #SocialImpact #Leadership #PeopleFirst #DataCulture #DataStrategy #CharityTech #SectorInsights #DigitalTransformation

🚀 Feelings build campaigns. Data builds empires. In fundraising, emotion might be the spark…but data is the engine that keeps it running. Too often, nonprofits think of data as dashboards, charts, or endless spreadsheets. But the truth is… data isn’t about dashboards. It’s about decisions. 📊 When you track the right metrics, you unlock clarity and control: Retention rate → Are we keeping our donors? 💎 Donor lifetime value (LTV) → Shows what a relationship is truly worth. 🔄 Reactivation rate → Reveals if lapsed supporters are coming back. 🤝 Engagement depth → Highlights who’s leaning in vs. just skimming. 📦 Average order value (AOV) → Measures the weight each gift carries. Here’s a real-world example 👉 when we segmented donors by engagement data, retention jumped by 31%. The lesson? Storytelling moves hearts ❤️, but data ensures those stories last, scale, and multiply. Nonprofits that master both are the ones building legacies…not just campaigns. 🌍✨ 📩 Curious how data-driven storytelling could reshape your fundraising?
