A groundbreaking study by SolarPower Europe and Fraunhofer ISE reveals a strategic pathway for European solar manufacturing to challenge Chinese market supremacy. The research illuminates a critical opportunity for the continent to reclaim its technological leadership in renewable energy production. The analysis exposes a surprising economic insight: European-made solar modules cost only 14.5% more in final electricity generation compared to Chinese imports. This marginal price difference suggests a viable strategy for reshoring solar manufacturing and reducing dependency on international supply chains. Successful implementation hinges on decisive policymaker action. By creating supportive regulatory environments and investing in domestic solar technology infrastructure, Europe can potentially transform its renewable energy landscape. The study presents a compelling blueprint for reinvigorating an industry that has been largely ceded to Chinese manufacturers over the past decade. As global energy transitions accelerate, this research represents a pivotal moment for European technological innovation and economic resilience in the green energy sector.

For the first time, global policies are converging to actively favour Australian production. The solar industry is entering an unprecedented era of policy shift around supply chain diversification, creating the conditions for new players to rise. What makes this convergence moment so powerful is the alignment between global policy shifts and Australia’s natural strengths: - Abundant raw materials - World-class renewable energy - Skilled workforces - Decades of solar R&D leadership. Together, they position Australia to deliver what global markets are demanding right now: trusted, clean, traceable solar manufacturing. The opportunity won't last forever. Countries that act now will secure their place in the emerging supply chain landscape. #StellarPV #Solar #SolarManufacturing #CleanEnergy #SolarSupplyChain #AustralianMade #SolarEnergy
