Work Smarter, Not Just Harder in 2D Animation ⚡ Tight deadlines? Complex rigs? Here are a few workflow habits that save my time (and sanity): ⚡ Reference is Not "Cheating": Record yourself doing the movement. Analyzing video reference cuts out 50% of the trial-and-error process. 📂 Naming Conventions Matter: Finding a layer named "Shape Layer 54" is a nightmare. Always label and color-code your layers. Your future self (and your team) will thank you. 🔄 Reuse & Recycle: Build a library for common assets (hands, mouths, blinks). Don't redraw the same thing twice if you don't have to. 🎹 Muscle Memory Shortcuts: It sounds cliché, but shaving off seconds every time you switch tools adds up to hours saved in the long run. 👀 Flip the Canvas: Regularly flip your view horizontally to catch skewed proportions or "tired eyes." ✨ Give Your Motion Graphics a Hand-Crafted Soul This preset creates a hand-drawn look by simulating natural, imperfect strokes — the kind that feel human, not mechanical. With subtle shaky lines and an organic scribble-style animation, your motion instantly feels more expressive and alive. Perfect for: • Explainer videos • Logo animations • Illustrations • Brand visuals that need a raw, animated feel If you want to move away from overly clean, robotic motion and create something that feels crafted, not generated — this effect delivers. Part of my After Effects Tips Series Focused on practical effects you can actually use in real projects. Would you use this style in your next animation? The challenge was clear: Dashline simplifies complex internal company processes - something that’s not easy to show visually. To bring this idea to life, we combined 2D explainer elements with a central 3D animation. At its core sits a glowing form, inspired by the new logo symbol. It organizes, connects, and sets everything in motion around it. This core became a visual metaphor for how Dashline works - quietly managing complexity in the background so companies can run smoother, smarter, and more in sync. Curious how it all came together? Explore the full case on Behance (link's in comments).

We built a world from nothing and the result is visually stunning (if we do say so ourselves). To promote Interpon's Natural Metals collection, we used 3D animation to create visuals that would be impossible to achieve with a live-action video. By working in a fully digital environment, we were able to: - Design bespoke building types and environments 🌆 - Precisely control lighting, materials and camera angles 🔦 - Visually transition from natural metals to powder coatings in a mesmerising way 💎 We really like this animation because it doesn't just feel explanatory like a lot of product videos. It incorporates atmosphere, movement, sound and story to demonstrate transformation - with no stock visuals in sight! 3D animation is such a powerful storytelling tool for technical and industrial brands, and it's one of our favourite projects to work on in terms of creative freedom. Sometimes motion design isn’t about a client brief — it’s about exploring the fundamentals. This experimental piece is built with simple geometry and gradients, focused on timing, spacing, and rhythm in motion design. Before colors and effects, motion is really about when things move, how long they move, and how they flow together. That’s what creates energy, calm, tension, or harmony on screen. Projects like this help me sharpen control over: • Timing & easing • Visual rhythm • Composition in motion Even minimal shapes can tell a story when motion is intentional. Still learning. Still exploring. Still pushing pixels to move better. Would love to hear your thoughts 👇 #MotionDesign #Animation #ExperimentalDesign #DesignProcess #VisualStorytelling #CreativeCoding #AfterEffects #DesignInspiration

🥴 Feeling overwhelmed by all the tools and techniques in motion design? Try this ⤵️ It’s tempting to jump between 3D, character animation, abstract loops, Houdini… You try a bit of everything, but end up tired, and not really better at any of it. Not everyone works like this, but if you’re feeling scattered, here’s something I’ve been trying: 1️⃣ List all the tools, techniques, and skills you’re curious about. 2️⃣ Rank them based on what excites you most or aligns with your goals. 3️⃣ Dedicate weeks or months to test just one before moving on. If something else catches your eye, save it. You’ll get to it later. When it's time for that on the list you have made. And if you lose interest halfway through? No worries. That’s clarity. So… what’s the one thing you’d focus on if you have to pick only one? // Building a creative career? 🚀 Jetpack Compose Animation Experiment — “Jelly Inside” Button Inspired by this animation concept 👇 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dbei54nb I challenged myself to recreate a similar visual using pure Jetpack Compose Canvas — no images, no Lottie — just code. The result is a liquid glass capsule button featuring realistic motion, depth, and lighting, built entirely with Compose graphics and Animation. 💡 What’s happening under the hood: 🔹 Custom Canvas-based UI drawing 🔹 Infinite animations for floating and tilt motion 🔹 Physics-inspired liquid wave simulation (sine + angle math) 🔹 Dynamic glass reflections and moving highlights 🔹 Soft blurred caustic shadow using native paint 🔹 Multi-layer gradients for depth and translucency 🔹 Text rendered directly on Canvas for full visual control Everything is powered by: Jetpack Compose + Canvas + Animation This experiment shows how Compose can go far beyond standard UI components into the world of procedural graphics and motion design. Would love to hear thoughts from fellow Android and UI engineers — What would you enhance or try next? #JetpackCompose #AndroidDev #AndroidUI #ComposeCanvas #MobileDevelopment #UIDesign #CreativeCoding #MotionDesign

We believe even the smartest tech deserves a little personality. 😎 So we had some fun bringing a 60-second 2D animated piece to life, packed with bold design, clean motion, and visuals that do some serious heavy lifting. Think: ✨ Layered graphics 🎨 Purposeful color 🎞️ Smooth, intentional motion All working together to turn complex ideas into something instantly watchable (and rewatchable). Because great animation isn't just explaining, it's about engaging.

R.I.P. Adobe Animate. It was a long slow death since Adobe had acquired Flash (Macromedia) in 2005 and honestly never touched it again other than minor tweaks. While competitors slowly took over the frame-by-frame animation market. I remember creating one of the first full Flash based feature film websites back in 2008 for Pixomondo's 'The Red Baron', their international breakthrough. And recently this showcase for Chase Bank. Although I love Fresco on the iPad the basic animation tools are actually useless imho. And sending vector illustrations to Animate was my ONLY reason I was holding on to Fresco so much and not looking at Procreate. To the last day I was really hoping I would see a major overhaul of Animate to catch up to the competitors but as it turns out the fate was sealed already. What do you think, are we going to seen another fbf animation option from Adobe? Maybe better animation tools within Fresco? Or another acquisition in that market? Or are they just giving up because of AI? #Animate #AI #framebyframe #animation

Finally dropping this one! 🎥✨ A personal project that properly explains what motion design is all about (because some people still ask 😂). I really enjoyed myself blending 2D and 3D, mixing styles left and right, and playing with those smooth transitions to make everything feel alive. It’s not just about fine movement, the real thing is using motion to bring ideas to life. Built the animation in After Effects + Blender, handled the sound design and final compilation in Premiere Pro, and ehn, this project taught me plenty: Balancing clean 2D with solid 3D depth is sweet but not easy at all Timing, easing, and storytelling matter die, even for explainer work When you push yourself outside your comfort zone (especially with 3D things I was still learning), that’s where the real growth shows Quick advice for my fellow motion designers and creatives hustling out there: Start simple, master the basics (those 12 principles of animation + good design sense), then start experimenting like mad. Do plenty work — quantity will sharpen your eye faster than waiting for perfection. And always ask yourself: “Does this movement help the message?” If yes, keep it. If not, let it go (kill your darlings, no mercy 😅). I’m grateful for the whole journey and already excited for the next one. What are you working on these days? Drop your latest projects in the comments — I’d love to see what you’re creating! 🙌🏾🔥 #MotionDesign #MotionGraphics #AfterEffects #Blender #PremierePro #Animation #CreativeJourney #NaijaCreatives
