Commercial Card acceptance is an excellent working capital collections tool. Often, we must first get by the two items for these transactions to be successful. 1) Buyers have to be willing to accelerate their payments to suppliers in exchange for usage of Card and the benefits associated with it by paying faster. Term and risk are now switched to the issuer. 2) Suppliers have to stop thinking of card payments like they are retail transactions and where the cost is prohibitive. The steps in #1 above allow the supplier to realize the acceleration of their cash and the total Value that offsets the small fee associated with Commercials Cards. Card acceptance can simplify operations and open the door to growth. When Cannonball Creative started accepting cards for B2B payments, the impact was immediate. Cash flow sped up, operations became smoother, and revenue increased. The agency saw a 300 bps net benefit and cut Days Sales Outstanding by 89%—from about 30 days to under 10.
