Learn to build agents with Copilot Studio for Microsoft Teams

Episode 2 of our Copilot Studio series just dropped! And this one's hands-on. We're building an actual agent from scratch. And before you think "that sounds complicated" - I promise it's not! In this case, "agent" just means an AI assistant with knowledge and abilities. You describe what you want in plain English, and Copilot Studio does the heavy lifting. What do you do AFTER building an Agent in Copilot Studio? 🤔 What is the proper way to document Agent Solutions⁉️👇 If you're like me, documentation is your worst nightmare. 👻💥 Documentation is tricky enough but I think is especially nuanced with agents because they are so new, IT admins often don't understand them, and users have fairly low adoption after launch. Well I like to think that Agent Documentation should contain the following things: ✅ Demystify Generative AI and Simplify What The Agent Does ✅ Explain Generative AI Capabilities and Settings ✅ Define Knowledge's Sources, Connections, and Actions ✅ Outline Topics & Variables Used Throughout Conversation Flows ✅ Explain the Channels and Where People Use It ✅ Provide Resources to Troubleshooting Errors I actually made a video explaining how I document agent solutions and provided a Copilot Studio User Guide Template (FREE RESOURCE) anybody can download to get a jump start into documenting agents of their own. The agent reported “success,” but nothing changed in the mailbox — a common first-step hiccup when testing early automations. Here are a few practical takeaways if you’re starting to experiment with Copilot Studio: ✅ Permissions matter — most email or data actions require user consent. If the agent never asks for it, it likely can’t perform the task. 🧪 Copilot Studio Lite works well for proof of concept — Project FAQs, documentation tasks, internal knowledge bases. 🤖 Copilot Studio Full fits more enterprise use cases — Customer Support agents, Sales assistants, Approval workflows. As Microsoft is currently rolling out AI video generation to Microsoft 365 Copilot, I naturally had to try it out. ✅ The video generation has some interesting features from the start, like the ability to change the speaker's voice or background music, or the ability to customize the video afterwards in Clipchamp. ❌ But it also has some pains – it makes every video look like a PowerPoint presentation, doesn't seem to be able to create a video without putting a lot of text and a speaker in it, for some reason crashes every time I include something negative in the prompt (like "no text"), ignores length instructions, doesn't seem to be able to create something not looking like a stock video, the voice and music changes do not work reliably, and you cannot go back to your previous creations in Copilot (only Clipchamp). So I tried to come up with some idea how to make an engaging video with all the restrictions. And this is the best I got so far. 🎬 Here is a Copilot-generated video explaining 21st century to a Renaissance man using Shakespeare's language, post-processed in Clipchamp. #Microsoft365Copilot #GenerativeAI #AI #Shakespeare

Ever been in a deep flow state with the Copilot CLI, and then, an hour later, the responses get... weird? Slow, complex, or just plain wrong? 😵💫 I've been falling into this "context trap" constantly. I'd stack dozens of small, related tasks in one continuous chat, thinking I was being efficient. It turns out, I was just making my AI "tired." 😫 My realization: An AI chat context is like a "mental workday." Just like us, it can't start a brand new, complex task at 4:55 PM while still holding all the baggage from the entire day. The fix is laughably simple: /clear Wiping the context isn't a failure. It's good workflow hygiene. It lets the AI "call it a day" and start your new task with a fresh, clean slate. ☀️ (And for those times you intentionally want to pick up where you left off, you can often use flags like --resume!) ✨ Just tried something fun with Veo 3.1! I ran an experiment using n8n + Kie AI to automate a complete video creation pipeline. I took a simple AI-generated character photo (not a real person, just being mindful 👀) and paired it with a random property background… and Veo 3.1 from Google turned it into a short ad-style video. What amazed me was how smooth and fully automated the process was — no heavy coding, just inputs, orchestration, and results. It really opens up so many ideas: real estate walk-throughs, quick marketing promos, training clips, or even social storytelling.
