Writing technical tutorials changed how I learn about systems. The moment you try to explain a workflow, tool, or deployment to someone else, you quickly discover what you actually understand and what you don’t. Teaching forces clarity. And clarity exposes gaps fast. #documentation #technicalwriting #docs #teaching

Ever written a date like 01/06/2026… and realised it could mean two completely different things? As I dive deeper into technical writing, I’m learning that clarity isn’t optional—it’s everything. Even something as simple as dates and times can make or break understanding. This carousel captures a few key lessons I’m picking up from Google’s style guide, writing for a global audience, avoiding ambiguity, and staying consistent. 👉 Sharing what I’m learning—swipe through. #Learningbydoing #Techwriting

Good technical writing starts with curiosity. I’ve found that the best documentation comes from asking simple questions early: • Why does this command exist? • What problem does it solve? • What breaks if it fails? Those questions force you to think beyond syntax and focus on user impact. That’s where clear, useful documentation comes from. #documentation #technicalwriting #docs

You've read the book. You've taken the course. You've saved the framework, screenshotted the post, watched the replay twice. And you still haven't done the thing. If this has happened to you more than once, you might have decided the problem is discipline. Or focus. Or that you haven't yet found the right teacher. It's probably none of those. Most of what's sold as transformation is actually teaching. Teaching transfers information. It works when the gap is informational, but a lot of being stuck isn't informational. It's that knowing hasn't translated into doing, and no amount of additional knowing seems to fix it. That's a different kind of problem. And it needs a different kind of work. New essay on the difference between teaching and hosting transformation, and why so many capable people stay stuck collecting frameworks they never use. https://lnkd.in/gXu6AVFW #DecisionDesign #FounderClarity #HostingTransformation #LoomworxStudio #BeyondContent

The best technical documentation answers the question the user hasn't asked yet. After creating 50+ training guides and instructional materials over 4 years, I've learned that great documentation isn't just about what you say—it's about anticipating what your audience needs to know. Three principles that transformed my approach: 1. Write for the 3am reader The person reading your documentation at 3am under pressure doesn't need background context or industry jargon. They need clear, sequential steps that solve their immediate problem. 2. One idea per section Cognitive load is real. When I restructured a 20-page training module into modular, single-concept sections, comprehension scores improved by 25%. Readers don't need everything—they need the right thing, right now. 3. Test with fresh eyes I learned this publishing two books: what's obvious to you is mystifying to someone else. Documentation that hasn't been tested with actual users is just a draft pretending to be finished. These principles apply whether you're writing curriculum for students, user guides for software, or SOPs for enterprise teams. Now transitioning into technical writing roles in Sydney where I can apply this user-first approach to corporate documentation. What's your biggest documentation challenge? I'm curious what others are navigating. #TechnicalWriting #Documentation #UserExperience #ContentStrategy #SydneyTech
