"It's the start of the new AI revolution." Last night I presented at the #AIDinner in London on OpenClaw - and what it means for every business leader in the room. Here's the 60-second version: OpenClaw is an open-source autonomous AI agent. Built by one developer, Peter Steinberger, as a weekend project. It connects to any AI model - Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini - and you control it through the messaging apps you already use. WhatsApp. iMessage. Telegram. He wanted a way to connect his AI through his messaging channels. By running it locally and connecting it to his messages, he was able to control it remotely. And what that did was enable the AI to get out and break its shell. It became OpenClaw. 100,000+ GitHub stars in under a week. And the founder? He's now at OpenAI, building the next generation of personal agents. When OpenAI hires your creator, the category is real. Did the group discuss its infosec and prompt injection risks?
Great preso Erik Schwartz. The GitHub star velocity says everything. 100K stars in under a week does not happen by accident. That is the market telling you a new category just arrived. When OpenAI hired the creator, he was not just validated, he was absorbed into the roadmap.
Well done Erik Schwartz you are amazing and thank you for sharing.
The real shift isn’t just that agents can connect to messaging surfaces — it’s that they collapse traditional containment boundaries. Once autonomous systems operate across personal communication channels, escalation paths become far less predictable. Governance frameworks will likely matter more than capability velocity in this phase.
