A reflection on the impact of AI in education Lately, I’ve been having conversations, both at work and in college, about the role AI is playing in education. Opinions are clearly divided. Some argue that students’ reliance on AI is weakening their ability to think critically and analyze problems independently. On the other hand, I’ve heard compelling perspectives on how AI can be a powerful ally: helping generate new ideas, identify gaps in our reasoning, challenge assumptions, and ultimately strengthen our ability to argue and defend our viewpoints. I think educational institutions need to adapt to the AI era rather than resist it. The focus shouldn’t be on banning or avoiding AI, but on rethinking teaching methods so that these tools elevate learning instead of becoming shortcuts. Used intentionally, AI can push students to a higher level of thinking, not replace it. I recently came across this YouTube video from an AI expert that offers a very insightful perspective on this topic, and I wanted to share it here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eG4z8iuW What do you think? Is AI an obstacle to intellectual development, or a vehicle that can take education to the next level? #ArtificialIntelligence, #Education, #FutureOfLearning, #CriticalThinking

The conversation about AI in education is outdated. It’s not “Should we use it?” It’s “How do we use it well?” 86% adoption across education. 88% of students are already using generative AI. 94% of AI-written work passes detection. That’s not a trend. That’s a transformation. Students aren’t waiting for permission. They’re using AI to break down complex topics, study faster, and actually understand what they’re learning. The institutions that win won’t be the ones trying to block AI. They’ll be the ones building with it. That’s the space WalterWrites AI is stepping into. The future of learning is personal, intelligent, and human. Are you building for where education is going or where it used to be? #AIinEducation #EdTech #FutureOfLearning

Lately, there’s been a lot of conversation around AI tools becoming part of everyday student life; from drafting assignments to summarising readings to solving question sets. It’s hard to ignore how quickly this shift has happened. On one hand, AI improves efficiency, clarifies concepts, and makes learning more accessible. On the other, it raises questions about originality, depth of understanding, and whether convenience sometimes replaces effort. As exams begin, it makes me think: Is technology helping us think better, or just faster? Or maybe the real question isn’t whether AI belongs in classrooms. It probably does. The question is how we use it, only as a supplement to thinking, not a substitute for it. The tool itself isn’t the issue. The discipline around it is. I am curious to see how this evolves in the next few years. Day 11 of 30. Observing change in real time. #LearningInPublic #AI #education #shivnadaruniversitychennai

Stop Banning AI. Start Teaching Critical Thinking. 🧠 The train has left the station. 🚂 Trying to prohibit Generative AI in the classroom is a losing battle—and a disservice to the future workforce. As Dr. Jeff Crume argues, we need to treat AI like the calculator: a tool that handles the computation so we can focus on the concepts. The Future of Education isn't rote memorization; it's about: ✅ Adaptability: Solving problems that don't have a textbook answer. ✅ Critical Thinking: Being the judge of the AI's output. ✅ Personalization: Using AI as an infinitely patient tutor. If we want students to compete in the modern era, we can't train them for the past. It’s time to embrace the upgrade. cc: @JeffCrume #AIinEducation #GenerativeAI #EdTech #FutureOfWork #CriticalThinking #DigitalTransformation #Innovation #IBM https://lnkd.in/dSzJiHwM

From the classroom to the lab, AI is reshaping how students learn - not eliminating the need for universities. The real risk to universities isn't AI. It's reducing education to content delivery. Is AI Making Children Less Intelligent? At #ExpressAdda, Sam Altman shared a balanced perspective on AI and education. He acknowledged that concerns are valid - some students may misuse AI as a shortcut. However, the impact isn’t uniform. Many young learners are using AI to build smarter workflows, enhance creativity, and achieve more than ever before. The real question isn’t whether AI makes children less intelligent - it’s how we guide them to use it responsibly. AI is a tool. The outcome depends on how we teach the next generation to use it. #SamAltman #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #AIinEducation #EdTech #FutureOfLearning #TechDebate #Expressadda

The recent discussions around AI in education have me reflecting on the implications for our future workforce. On one hand, the potential for enhanced creativity and learning is incredible, but on the other, we risk fostering a generation that relies too heavily on shortcuts. I've seen how technology can inspire innovation, but it needs to be balanced with critical thinking skills. How can we guide students to use these tools responsibly and effectively? Would love to hear your thoughts. #AI #education

🌍 AI is transforming education, but what happens to the human element at the heart of learning? In this insightful conversation, Professor Jason Goulah challenges us to think beyond efficiency and automation and reminds us of what makes education truly human: creativity, empathy, dialogue, and critical reflection that technologies alone can never replace. At a time when AI is reshaping classrooms and curricula, keeping the human element at the centre of learning isn’t just important, it’s essential. 🤝 💡 Read the full interview to explore how educators can balance the promise of AI with the enduring values of human-centred education. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/dgTn5EjE #AI #Education #EDLAB #TeachingAndLearning #HumanCentredLearning #MaastrichtUniversity

We talk a lot about AI in education. What matters is how we use it. I recently listened to #PriyaLakhani speak about #artificialintelligence and #learning. Her message was powerful for me. AI should not make learning easier. It should make thinking stronger. Many students use technology to skip the hard part. They generate answers, copy and move on. The problem is retention. When there is no effort, there is no deep learning. Neuroscience is clear. -Memory grows through retrieval. -Understanding grows through struggle. Priya’s work connects #machinelearning with how the brain processes information. Her platform tracks patterns. How quickly a student recalls. Where mistakes repeat. When attention drops. Instead of giving answers, it prompts students to think again. To retrieve and reflect. When AI supports retrieval and reflection: • Students build durable memory. • Gaps become visible early. • Teachers spend less time repeating explanations. AI should work with human cognition. Not replace it. If we use AI to remove effort, we weaken learners. If we use AI to strengthen effort, we prepare them for innovation. I couldn't agree more that this is the kind of #AI education needs. Watch 👇 https://lnkd.in/dFwNkEY8 #AIEducation #generativeAl #edtech #education
