Over 90% of hospital Trusts now have a core Electronic Patient Record in place. And yet Trusts continue to implement digital solutions. Why? Because for all that was said about a ‘single pane of glass’ for hospitals, a core patient record does not always cover more complex patient treatment pathways, or those which span settings (i.e. outside a hospital), and we still need other solutions for that. More importantly, we need strong, seamless interoperability between those systems. Real success comes, therefore, when suppliers work collaboratively to compliment each other’s solution and enhance a patient pathway, rather than competing and hoarding access to health data. If you find suppliers with strong links to other suppliers and solutions in the industry, it’s a reasonable indication that they will be easy to work with and have your interests at heart – they will work to understand your challenges, design solutions for your needs, and deliver improvements you are looking for, rather than pursuing their own agenda.
