Today our Chief Executive Brett O'Riley announced he will be standing down from the role in June 2024. Brett has been the EMA's Chief Executive since 2019 and is also a member of the BusinessNZ board. He will be stepping back from full-time employment to concentrate on governance and advisory roles, as well as undertaking some travel. Brett says that after five years in the role, the time feels right to hand over the mantle. "The past five years have been a challenging period for both the business sector and the EMA. I was privileged to lead a great team as we rolled up our sleeves and supported our members through the pandemic and the subsequent economic downturn," says Brett. "I am proud of what I have achieved and have fulfilled many of the objectives I set myself when I started. While I am ready to take on some new challenges, my kaupapa means I will continue to look at how I use my experience to support New Zealand businesses and grow the New Zealand economy through sustainable development." On behalf of everyone at the EMA, thank you for everything you have done.
The Remarkables...a team I have put huge value in being part of and will miss you Brett O'Riley when the time comes!
Fantastic mahi!
You have been wonderful to work with over the years. You have created a great legacy for many in your varied leadership roles. I look forward to the next chapter. Thank you for everything you have done and achieved.
Awesome work Brett O'Riley, well done on a massive contribution to NZ business!
All the very best Brett, thank you for all your hard work.
The first leader I've worked under that supported Māori kaupapa and cultural change. I'm always here if you ever need a waiata tautoko Brett. Ngā mihi nui.
Best wishes Brett! It is a huge sign of courage and leadership to hand over the mantle when so much has been achieved on your watch. For all of that and your contribution that has been appreciated by so many businesses and individuals, I join my thanks to that of all the others. I am sure you will continue to add value in whatever you take on next. I look forward to catching up with you when you free up your diary.
Look forward to catching up and hearing what's next.
