Edwards Lifesciences’ Post

There was a time when cardiac surgery in Zambia rarely happened locally. Today, Zambia’s National Heart Hospital performs more than 125 surgeries annually – a milestone made possible through collaboration between the Edwards Lifesciences Foundation and Tokushima International Cooperation (TICO), a Japanese non-profit organization. Teams from Japan and Zambia work together to treat patients and support the long-term independence of Zambia’s cardiac program. We’re grateful to Dr. Takeshi Matsumura, cardiac surgeon and TICO volunteer, and Drs. Chileshe Mutema (MD, MCh, PhDc) and Mercy Mambwe Litana of the National Heart Hospital in Zambia for joining Edwards team members Juliet Smyth and Sawako Nishida at our Tokyo office to share how this work is transforming cardiac care in Zambia. ❤️ Learn more about the Zambia partnership: https://lnkd.in/gvA38G_T #EdwardsGivesBack #OurHeartsBeatWithEdwards #HeartOfInnovation
