Data volume is rarely the issue in higher education. Alignment is. Institutions collect metrics across learning, engagement, and outcomes, but value is created only when data is clearly tied to decisions and responsibility. Without alignment, dashboards grow while impact stalls. This EdTechXperts article breaks down why misalignment, not data, is the real barrier to progress and what leaders can do to fix it. https://lnkd.in/ed_ZJ9s7 Where do you see data and decision making drifting apart today? #EdTechXperts #DataInEducation #HigherEd #EducationLeadership #Strategy #Analytics

What if digital transformation in your school didn’t end with a report… but actually led to meaningful action? Today, we’re launching the Digital Transformation Tool (DTT) — designed to help schools move from insight to action. Instead of static reports, the DTT allows you to: 📊 identify priorities across Leading, Teaching, Learning, and Managing 🔍 explore your data interactively to uncover insights and patterns 🧠 generate practical next steps, task lists, and plans with AI support And importantly: 👉 You can explore the entire question catalogue for free — with full transparency. If you’re interested, we’ve put together a short blog post that explains how it works and shows the tool in action: https://lnkd.in/ga5veRXb Happy to answer any questions or hear how your school is approaching digital transformation.

We’ve spent years measuring learning outcomes, but what if we’ve been missing the story in between? With Multimodal Learning Analytics, the focus shifts to connecting behavior data with outcomes, not just tracking results but understanding the journey that leads to them. Every pause, revisit, interaction, and decision becomes a signal, shaping a richer, more human view of learning. This is where data-driven learning evolves. It’s about decoding patterns, predicting challenges, and creating learning experiences that actually respond to how people learn. The real question is, Are we ready to move from measuring outcomes to understanding behavior? Multimodal learning analytics promises deeper insight into how people learn. However, the reality is more complex. Combining multiple data types increases technical demands, raises ethical considerations around data usage, and requires significant infrastructure investment. Even then, interpreting these datasets in a meaningful way remains a challenge. Without clear frameworks and standardization, organizations risk generating more data without improving decision-making. The opportunity lies not just in collecting richer data, but in building systems that can govern, interpret, and apply it effectively. Is the challenge in learning analytics really about data availability, or about the ability to use it meaningfully? #LearningInnovation #EdTech #DataGovernance #FutureOfLearning #BIJ

If you've been reading my posts this week and thinking – I need someone to help me actually do this – here's how we can work together. I work with NHS and ICB leaders, local authorities and VCSE organisations working in health and social care – where reducing health inequalities is the goal but understanding whether you're actually achieving it is the hard part. There are four ways: A long-term learning partnership, ideally three or more years, working alongside you as things evolve, not parachuting in at the end. The Impact Journey – a structured programme over 6–18 months to get your theory of change, impact measurement framework and reporting in place. SROI and impact reports – when you need credible evidence without longer-term support. An AI survey and data analysis tool – to automate your data collection and get real-time impact data without the manual burden. Swipe through to find out more. And send me a message if any of it resonates.

How could machine learning unlock new opportunities for your organisation? 👇 Are you currently asking: ▶️ How can we make better use of our data? ▶️ Where could automation improve efficiency? ▶️ How do we stay competitive as technology evolves? ▶️ What does machine learning actually mean for our business? Many organisations know machine learning has potential - but struggle to understand where it fits and how to apply it in practice. Our Machine Learning executive education course is designed to bridge that gap. The programme helps professionals understand the fundamentals of machine learning and explore how it can be used to improve decision-making, optimise processes, and drive innovation. You’ll leave with practical insight into how machine learning can support your organisation’s goals - no deep technical background required. 🔗 Find out more: link in comments below #MachineLearning #ExecutiveEducation #NewCourse

Learning Analytics, the quantification of existence: On the data dashboard, that which remains 'unvisualized'—such as the silence of anguish, illogical intuition, and the aesthetics of failure—is stripped of its ontological status. Within the violence of visibility, where only that which is translated into numerical values is sanctioned as 'actual learning,' the learner's intimate subjectivity perishes beyond the shadows of data.

The Accountability Gap: Why practitioners are being set up to fail. We talk a lot about "Precision Understanding" for our most vulnerable students. But as practitioners, we’re often trapped in a paradox: We have 100% of the responsibility, but only 10% of the resources to prove our impact. I believe the next stage of the 2026 SEND Mandate isn't just about better labels - it's about Data Sovereignty and a radical new level of collaboration between Schools, Tools, and the Governance Pool. If we want to improve our impact, we have to stop "renting" student history from disconnected systems. When data lives in silos, it creates "Manual Decay." It means the breakthroughs you have in a workshop or a 1-to-1 session don't always make it to the Annual Review because the Tools don't talk to the Pool. Where does AI fit in? We aren't using AI to make decisions - we're using it for what it was originally created for: high-speed pattern recognition. No human or standard spreadsheet can spot a 4% shift in a student's "Forensic Velocity" across six different subjects in real-time. Arena uses AI as a silent partner to notice the patterns that usually get missed in the noise, giving practitioners the "Sovereign Proof" they need to act before a crisis hits. I’ve laid out the technical roadmap for this shift in my latest Substack (link in comments). I’d love to hear from the people on the front line: Is "manual decay" of data holding your interventions back? How much of the life-changing work you do every day is actually "seen" by the system, and how much just vanishes into the paperwork gap? Do you ever feel like you’re carrying the full weight of a student's safety, but the tools you’re given are too fragmented to actually catch them? Let us know in the comments! Feedback from practitioners is how we developed the system to its current version, it is also how we will improve what we moving forward! #SENDReform #PractitionerAgency #AlternativeProvision #SovereignData #SchoolsToolsPool

In data science, rigidity is the enemy of intelligence. We often define "Intelligence" by processing power or algorithmic complexity. But as Stephen Hawking famously suggested, true intelligence is the ability to adapt to change. In our field, change is the only constant: Data Drift: Models that were "smart" yesterday become obsolete as consumer behavior shifts. Tool Evolution—The stack we use today might be replaced by a more efficient one tomorrow. Business Needs—A perfect insight is useless if it arrives after the market has moved. Being a "Data Intelligent" professional isn't about knowing all the answers; it’s about building systems—and mindsets—that are resilient to flux. Adaptability > Complexity. #DataScience #MachineLearning #DataStrategy #Adaptability #TechLeadership

“For the first time, I saw how advanced analytics fits with our actual problems.” That moment is what many organizations are missing. It’s the moment one of our clients had when analytics finally connected to the work they do every day. This case study tells the story of how MANTECH’s Elder Research team partnered with a Fortune-ranked organization to build a custom upskilling program for R&D teams. The program combined hands-on training with real-world use cases, enabling teams to apply data and AI directly to their day-to-day work. The result: • New methods for formulation and manufacturing • Faster product iteration and smarter experiment design • Reduced time-to-insight for key initiatives 🔗 Read the full case study to see how we made it happen: https://lnkd.in/eU78k893
