Episode 1 LOD Expressions Unlocked 🔓 1,175. 1,401. 822. 1,611. Same calculation. Four different answers. I did not change the data. I did not change the formula. I simply added Region to the view and Tableau gave me four completely different numbers. That is not a Tableau bug. That is a level of detail problem. And most people never catch it in their reports. In this episode I show exactly how this happens using the Superstore dataset. Then I introduce the FIXED LOD expression and show how averaging it gives you the true average orders per customer ... consistent across every region. Two calculations. One view. The difference is everything. #Tableau #DataAnalytics #LODExpressions #TableauPublic #DataVisualization #TableauTips

3 days. That’s it. In 3 days I’ll be on stage at Tableau Conference walking through something I’ve been building for a while now: TableauOps Sync This started as a simple frustration: “Why is it so hard for multiple people to work on the same Tableau content… without stepping on each other?” So I built something different. A way to: ➜ see who’s working on what ➜ track what changed ➜ resolve conflicts before they become problems ➜ move work safely and easily from local ➜ dev ➜ prod Not theory. Not slides. An actual working system. If you’ve ever: overwritten someone else’s workbook wondered what changed between versions hesitated to publish because you weren’t sure what would break This session is for you. Live demo. Real workflows. Real code Let’s see how far we can push Tableau beyond the defaults. #Tableau #TableauConference #DataViz #AnalyticsEngineering #TableauOps

What is the most common dashboard and reporting problem across every industry, every tool, every team? I'll go first. Timeouts. ⌛ That moment when you open the dashboard, it spins for 45 seconds and then quietly gives up on life. No errors. No warnings. Just… nothing. A beautiful dashboard that times out is just an expensive loading screen. I have rebuilt more dashboards for performance than I have for design. What is your most common dashboard and reporting problem? #DataHumor #BusinessIntelligence #BI #DataAnalytics #DataVisualization #DashboardDesign #Tableau #LookerStudio #PowerBI #DataStorytelling #AnalyticsEngineering #ModernDataStack #DataEngineering #DataQuality #BigQuery #Snowflake #dbt

✨ Lisa’s Tableau Tuesday Tip: Colored tabs in filter settings ✨ I may have become obsessed with green screens - you’ll see more of that here in the future 😉 Instead of writing out (which no one would read anyway, because we’re all visual people), I recorded a video on how you can see the coloring of your tabs in your filter settings. Shoutout to Kevin Flerlage and Ken Flerlage for showing some of these tips at #tc26! Happy tableau-ing! #datafam #datavisualization #dataanalytics #tableau #tableautuesday

Arrow charts in Tableau are a great way to visualise change between two date values. The visualisation is so simple that it makes the charts super effective: - Did the values increase? - Did the values decrease? - Was the change a big change? Simple. You need 2 LODs to make this work, but once you know where to look, it's easy! 🎥 Video below. #datafam #tableau
