Too often higher education works in silos. Departments, teams, and leaders operating in isolation exasperates inefficiencies and cuts off innovation. In the latest episode of Radical Cooperation, Dr. Beronda Montgomery hits the nail on the head: breaking down silos starts with leaders creating spaces where people can build real relationships and collaborate effectively. It’s our job to set our teams up for success.

I’ve shared before that Brené Brown is one of my favorite Leaders. She always has research-based insights to share, backed by data and years of experience chasing her curiosity. Her recent talk at the Fast Company Innovation Festival resonated deeply with me. She shared three powerful lessons that I believe are essential for today's leaders: 🔹Pause and Reflect – In a world that moves fast, especially with AI and tech, slowing down to align actions with purpose is powerful. 🔹Embrace Transformation – Change is centered around a shift in thinking, breaking down barriers, and building thoughtfully. 🔹Lead with Preparation and Honesty – It’s showing up ready, speaking truthfully, and creating trust. It's a leaders job to meet your team where they're at, and guide them to where they need to be. If they trust you, they'll follow. These principles are practices I strive to embody in my work with leaders and teams to foster trust, vulnerability, and meaningful impact. I see firsthand how leaders who embrace these principles inspire their teams to show up fully, take smart risks, and grow together. Trust fuels results, and it all starts with courage.
