Managed IT services are evolving away from the traditional "per-user" model toward a value-driven approach. For mid-market businesses, the goal is to align technology services with specific growth trajectories and pain points. Whether it's reducing software licensing costs by 15% through central management or ensuring 24/7 security monitoring, the focus should be on creating a faster, safer, and more scalable workflow that supports the unique needs of your organization. In other words: your managed IT services should work for you.

LEADERS IN HEALTHCARE....There is an incredibly useful resource in the comment section of this in preparation for the HIPAA Security Rule changes that are happening this month and next!
CISO & Founder | Speaker & Author | Providing leaders with clarity to reduce cyber risk and improve security decisions
If you don’t control how software enters your environment, you don’t control your risk. New software is entering your environment every week… without IT's knowledge. No ticket. No security review. No vendor risk approval. And once it does, it compounds: - Vendor risk and BAAs are inconsistently applied. - IT is expected to support systems it never provisioned. - IAM and access control drift across unregistered tools. - PHI is stored in systems no one has formally approved. - No one can confidently say what’s actually running in production. If it’s not in your inventory, it’s not under your control. Policy doesn’t stop Shadow IT. It requires governance that controls how software enters the environment: - Continuous discovery of applications in use. - A single SaaS intake path tied to IT, security, and procurement. - Enforced vendor risk and data agreements before deployment. - Identity lifecycle control tied to every application from day one. The highest-risk systems in your environment are the ones no one is accountable for. If someone signs up for a new SaaS tool today… how long until IT knows? _______________________________ I help leadership teams define, own, and act on technology risk. My focus is simple: making sure the right decisions are made by the right people before an incident forces them. If IT is still making leadership decisions by default in your organization, private message me.

We recently had a customer raise an important question around business continuity before adopting our SDK as part of their core product stack. It was a good reminder that for B2B software, the product itself is only one part of the decision. Trust, continuity, support, licensing clarity, and long-term reliability matter just as much. When a company integrates your SDK deeply into their workflow, they are not just buying features. They are placing part of their own product roadmap in your hands. That means vendors need to be clear, transparent, and practical about questions like: What happens if support is needed urgently? What does the license actually include? How is continuity handled? What guarantees can be contractually agreed? How will the customer be protected long term? These conversations may feel uncomfortable, but they are exactly the conversations that build trust. In enterprise software, confidence is not created by avoiding hard questions. It is created by answering them clearly.

What I've learned managing outbound infrastructure for 30+ agencies: The most successful agencies aren't the ones with the most clients. They're the ones who systematized. Domain purchasing: multi-registrar comparison, automated checks before purchase. 5-minute decision instead of 30. DNS setup: SPF/DKIM/DMARC templates per client type. Apply in batches, not one record at a time. Mailbox provisioning: 4 mailbox types matched to client volume. Not "buy more seats every time someone needs more sends." Health monitoring: DNSBL checks + deliverability tests run weekly across all client domains. Not "when something breaks." Domain rotation: replace burnt domains automatically. Not "oh wait, that domain has been blacklisted for 3 weeks." Without systems, every new client is a fire drill. With systems, every new client is a checklist. The second model scales. The first one doesn't. Most agencies stay in fire-drill mode forever because building systems feels like a distraction from "actual work." It's not a distraction. It's the work. What's the most painful unsystematized part of your operation? 👇
