Still buzzing from today’s panel at European Blockchain Convention : 🔗 Building the Rails for Issuance, Custody & Settlement of Tokenized Assets. I closed with a timeless filter: Socrates’ Three Sieves. 🏛️ If we want tokenization to matter, it must pass the test: ✅ Is it TRUE? Yes. Tokenization is not hype anymore. It is already live in treasuries, credit, real estate, investment funds and even cash on-chain. By 2029, it will not be a “crypto strategy”. It will simply be how markets operate. ✅ Is it USEFUL? Absolutely. Institutions will not adopt tokenization because it is cool. They will adopt it because it delivers: 💧 Liquidity unlocked ⏱️ 24/7 settlement 🧾 Programmable compliance 🧩 Fractional ownership at scale Custody will evolve from passive safekeeping into active connectivity. ✅ Is it GOOD? Only if we build it that way. Faster is not enough. It must make markets fairer, more transparent and more efficient. Innovation is exciting. Impact is meaningful. Stablecoins and tokenization have been at the center of most conversations this year. What has been more surprising is how often Canton Network has started coming up in those discussions and the excitement around it from both crypto and traditional finance organizations. I was first exposed to Digital Asset almost a decade ago as investors at the Partnership for New York City and FinTech Innovation Lab. Seeing their evolution from enterprise distributed ledger solutions to now powering the Canton Network, a privacy first and compliant blockchain infrastructure connecting banks, exchanges, and asset managers, has been fascinating. With partners ranging from Goldman Sachs, Broadridge, HSBC, BNP Paribas to other leading institutions, it definitely has captured the attention as the connective tissue for real world asset tokenization. Given the momentum, I am pretty sure we will be seeing more founders and institutions engaging in the Canton ecosystem. If you are building in the ecosystem, it would be great to connect. Excellent article appearing today in Digital Bytes (out of London) on dark pools, concluding: "The fusion of stablecoins, tokenised assets and programmable contracts is paving the way for a new generation of digital dark pools. In an optimistic scenario, these platforms could reduce market volatility by shielding large orders from public order books, enable round-the-clock global settlement via blockchain and attract substantial institutional capital to the crypto ecosystem. For example, a hedge fund executing a large stablecoin-backed token swap across multiple exchanges could maintain price stability whilst accessing deeper liquidity pools - a feat far harder in public venues. Yet the risks remain significant - poorly managed digital dark pools could deepen market inequalities, privileging large players over smaller participants. Liquidity may fragment across multiple hidden venues and opaque trading could obscure price discovery, undermining market confidence. Cross-border oversight and manipulation prevention remain unresolved challenges and institutions entering crypto dark pools should carefully weigh potential liquidity and execution benefits against fairness, transparency and regulatory risks. Essentially, the most successful implementations will combine technological innovation with robust governance, ensuring that these hidden markets complement rather than undermine broader market integrity."

This is a meaningful step toward embedding digital assets into everyday transactions, both locally and across borders As the technology matures, broader adoption is inevitable. Stablecoins offer speed, transparency, and cost-efficiency; but they also come with risks. These include regulatory uncertainty, cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and potential misuse for illicit activities. Addressing these challenges requires thoughtful design and oversight. To that, collaboration will be key. Regulators, financial institutions, technology providers, and users must work together to unlock the full potential of cryptocurrency while managing its risks. For financial institutions, this trend presents an opportunity to innovate. Including stablecoins in their offerings can enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency, and position them ahead of the curve in a rapidly evolving financial landscape.
