Had an #acting #coaching client play with a certain line a handful of times, in a row. Then their character started using a new resonance on the line, their vocal technique opened up for the rest of the speech too. Good to hear them discovering new nuance. #ActingCoach #ActingCoaching #voice #vocal

With an #acting #coaching client explored a character's baseline, kind of default, vocal resonance/how they use their voice. It was really cool to find the parts of the scene where the material demanded their voice deviate from their default, revealed some key moments. #ActingCoach #ActingCoaching #voice #VoiceOver #VocalTechnique

Got to hear an #acting #coaching client's voice almost quaver just as they hit a key piece in the material because they got more specific with it, and the depth there was beautiful to encounter. Specificity almost always beats vague generality. #ActingCoach #ActingCoaching #actors #voice #specificity

Directed an #acting #coaching client to do a very specific thing for a take, and we learned the direction was way outside the bounds of the material, which clarified, somehow concretely, an inner layer that was not what we had thought it was. Then we discovered new pieces we hadn't found before. #ActingCoach #ActingCoaching #actors #InnerLife

Acting is not just about being believable. It is about being meaningful. You are not showing up to perform lines. You are there to entertain and to enlighten. That means you are always saying something. Every character carries a point of view about life. Maybe it is about letting go of control. Maybe it is about choosing love over fear. Maybe it is about transforming pain into something useful. That idea is the engine of the work. When actors miss this, scenes feel flat. When they connect to it, everything sharpens. The objective becomes clearer. The behavior becomes active. The audience leans in because they are not just watching you, they are experiencing something through you. This is where the craft deepens. It is not about pushing emotion. It is about understanding what the story is asking and allowing your body and imagination to express it. If you have a real experience, the audience will have one too. That is the exchange. This is the difference between just acting and actually moving people. It is also what separates a working actor from someone still trying to figure it out. Tom Draper, Acting Coach #actingcoach #actingclass #oncameraacting #chekhovtechnique #actorslife

An audition doesn’t end when you leave the room or hit “submit.” What you do after matters just as much. Growth comes from reflection. Confidence comes from letting go. Progress comes from consistency. Treat every audition like a step forward, not a final judgment. #CreativeIndustry #CastingCalls #craftlyst #actor #acting

(Opinion Day) Nancy Cartwright HIGH_FIVE! Love your masterclass! If you have not watched this one you need to. Nancy Cartwright with all her energy, wisdom, and hint and tips has a great understanding of presentation too. She takes you from the bottom up and shares how to build and work through your vocal script and complete your final recording. One thing to comment on; I am hearing from many voice actors that if you want to excel at your vocal career you need to take and learn “acting.” Voice acting is still acting, especially improv, so improve your acting skills. Many use singing as their physical way of creating a “full bodied” vocal range and flexibility and many use singing as an outlet to overcome being “microphone shy” and “performance shy” Great Advice to expand your horizons! Find an improv and singing class near you today. ENJOY! "An ounce of behavior is worth a pound of words." — Sanford Meisner
