Last night I got asked how to get the best out of an interview subject. I appreciate this will be highly subjective, but it is a question I get asked reasonably frequently. And on the back of a week interviewing people on stage, on the conference floor, and in media booths - I definitely feel pretty connected to it right now! I have one guiding principle, find out what that person is passionate about. Sure, you come into any conversation with an agenda. Maybe it's yours, maybe the conference producers, or the PR firms - but there is a context. It's your job to find out why that resonates with the person you're sat opposite. If you do that everything else flows. They relax, feel comfortable, laugh, and most importantly share! I heard Rob Pegoraro describing it as performance art this week, and I'd subscribe to that. You're putting on a show so help the person who's under the spotlight shine. Thank you Jack J.
