The essence of "AI economics" is to make a dynamic trade-off between cost, model capabilities and business benefits. In actual development, different model resources need to be allocated according to the complexity and value density of the task in order to achieve the best overall input-output ratio. So in real-world scenarios, how should we balance model cost and performance in different tasks, and under what circumstances is it worth paying higher inference fees for a more powerful model?

The rise of context and the shift to automation are the two signals I’d watch most closely. More context helps agents do more, but automation only scales safely when the constraints around architecture, boundaries, and decision history become machine-readable too. That is where the next layer of developer tooling is headed.

The shift from writing code to orchestrating it is the most underrated change in how teams ship. The developers compounding their output aren't typing faster, they're delegating well and reviewing sharply. That same operating model is about to reshape every function, not just engineering.

This is the shift that matters. AI coding is not just making developers faster, it is changing how much context, review and judgement matter. The people who win will not be the ones who generate the most code, but the ones who know what to trust, test and clean up.

The power user gap is the one that compounds. Most orgs see top-quartile results in slide decks, median in production
