You don't need to be a developer to build custom interactions in Articulate Rise. 🤯💻 I’m serious. For the longest time, the "Code Block" in Rise was a "no-go" zone for most instructional designers. But with Gemini and Canva AI, that’s officially changed. I just built 6 custom interactions—including scenarios, calculators, and even a Tetris-style game—using AI to write the code for me. Here’s the breakdown of what I learned: ✅ The "Vibe Coder" Method: You can literally just tell Gemini or Canva, "It isn’t displaying right," and it will troubleshoot its own code. ✅ Interactive Completion: How to use specific triggers so learners actually have to do something before the "Continue" button unlocks. ✅ AI-First Workflow: Use Gemini’s "Canvas" mode to see your code edits in real-time before you ever touch Rise. Fair warning: It’s not all sunshine and rainbows. I cover the 4 big "caution zones" (Accessibility, Mobile resizing, Localization, and PDFs) at the end of the video. Built a conflict scenario for instructional designers in under 60 minutes. Here's the quick-fix workflow — and what's coming next. 🧩 Most eLearning about working with difficult SMEs tells learners what to do. It doesn't put them in the room. So I created "Working with Raj" — a branching scenario where you're an ID navigating a real challenge: an enthusiastic SME who dumps 200 slides on you, dominates your kickoff call, and genuinely can't see why that's a problem. 📋 The Scenario Raj is passionate, knowledgeable, and overwhelming. You're trying to build a partnership — but every response shapes the relationship. Do you thank him and start reorganising? Push back early? Or redirect his energy into something you can actually use? Each choice leads somewhere different. There's no hand-holding. 🛠️ The quick-fix workflow: I used Claude to rapidly prototype this — defining characters, mapping decision branches, and drafting consequence feedback. What used to take weeks of storyboarding took a fraction of the time. 1 Prompt the scenario — describe the character, the conflict, and the stakes to Claude. Get a full branching structure back. 2 Refine the consequences — each wrong path gets a specific, honest debrief. No generic "try again" messages. 3 Build in RISE — drop the branches into Articulate RISE as a scenario block. Screenshots, polish, done. 🚀 Coming Up Next The next version goes further — instead of picking from preset options, learners type their own response. An LLM reads what they write, evaluates the approach, and guides them toward the optimal strategy in real time. No multiple choice. Actual judgment under pressure. This is where AI in learning gets genuinely interesting — not replacing the designer, but letting you build experiences that meet each learner exactly where they are. 📌 Drop a 💡 in the comments if you want to see the open-response version in action, or share how you're using AI to prototype scenarios faster. What's the trickiest SME dynamic you've ever had to design around? #InstructionalDesign #eLearning #AIinLearning #LearningDesign #ScenarioBasedLearning #WorkplaceTraining #ArticulateRISE

Instructional Design is a science. I’ve spent the last few days building the ID Content Outline Builder—a browser-based engine designed to move us from "Blank Page" to "Stakeholder-Ready" in minutes. What’s under the hood? 🧠 Theory-Aware: Select from 50+ frameworks (Gagné, ARCS, Bloom’s, etc.). The AI doesn’t just write; it engineers the flow based on your choice. ✍️ Architect Control: You stay in the driver's seat. Every module, objective, and summary is 100% editable before you export. 📊 Management-Ready: It generates a sleek, anchor-linked Executive Summary designed specifically to get senior stakeholder buy-in. 📥 Zero Dependencies: Exports a standalone HTML file. No login, no LMS, no subscription. Just your expertise + your API key. 🌟 The "Open Call" for Collaboration This is version 1.0, and I’m looking for the ID community to help me break it, refine it, and grow it. How can you help? The Theory Library: Is your favorite niche model missing? Let’s add it. 📚 Prompt Refinement: Help me tweak the "system instructions" to ensure the AI truly understands the nuances of Action Mapping vs. Constructivism. 🛠️ New Features: Should we add a SCORM wrapper? A "SME Interview" script generator? A Storyline-ready JSON export? 💡 👥 IDs: How do we teach the AI to be a better "Socratic Partner" that pushes back on fluff? 💻 Devs: How can we build "measured tension" into the agent's architecture so it prioritizes behavior over definitions? Let us build a Cognitive Dissonance Agent (CDA)—one that doesn't just converge on an easy answer but struggles internally to keep the content lean and action-oriented. 🔗 Try the Live Tool: https://lnkd.in/guyYazrD 💻 Contribute on GitHub: https://lnkd.in/gsNex8s6 Let’s build the future of ID scaffolding together. What feature should we tackle next? 👇 #InstructionalDesign #LearningArchitect #EdTech #OpenSourceID #LandD #AIforID #InstructionalDesignCommunity

Artificial Intelligence keeps revolutionizing Instructional Design! 🤯🚀 👋 This week I joined the hashtag #ElearningChallenge - Accordion Interactions #544 by David Anderson and Articulate. For my entry, I designed a mini-lesson on Brand Storytelling and why stories connect so much better than hard data. 📖✨ But the real magic was in the workflow: On March 24th, I attended the event "10 AI Assistant Capabilities You’re Missing & 10 Tips to Master them" by David Anderson, and I also watched an incredible tutorial by Jeff Batt from Learning Dojo ("Building a Sliding Accordion with New Learning Prompts Tool"). Inspired by this, I decided to test the prompts from prompts.learningdojo.app directly inside the Storyline AI Assistant. The result? The AI generated the entire HTML/CSS/JS structure for a functional accordion using a single trigger. My job was to curate the experience: polishing the CSS styles (adding those deep blue-purple gradients) and structuring the content to make the interface flawless. 👨💻🎨 Integrating these tools opens up a world of possibilities for creating custom UIs in our courses. 🔗 The links to interact with my accordion and watch Jeff's tutorial are in the first comment! 👇 Are you already experimenting with AI assistants in your authoring tools? #ElearningChallenge #ArticulateStoryline #ElearningDevelopment #InstructionalDesign #UXDesign #eLearning #InstructionalDesign #ArticulateStoryline #ArtificialIntelligence #LearningDojo

Authoring tools are getting incredibly fast. AI-generated images. Auto-generated quizzes. One-click animations. The time from blank slide to finished module keeps shrinking. But here's what I keep hearing from L&D managers: "We're producing more content than ever — and catching fewer mistakes before it goes live." Speed without quality control isn't efficiency. It's risk at scale. When one author can produce in a week what used to take a month, the review process becomes the bottleneck. And most review processes still look like this: Open every slide manually Eyeball the text for typos and tone Hope nobody used the wrong font Click everything visible to check that all the triggers actually work Repeat for the next module That doesn't scale. It especially doesn't scale across a team of 5 or 10 authors all working to different standards. This is the problem we're solving with Clariqo. Automated QA for Storyline projects. Upload a .story file, get a full report — readability scores, grammar issues, banned terms, broken triggers, font and color compliance, quiz validation — across every slide, every layer, in minutes. Not per-textbox. Not author-initiated. Batch analysis against your organization's standards, with severity levels and a review workflow that doesn't require a Storyline license. The faster authoring gets, the more you need a safety net on the other side. We're in closed beta right now, working with L&D teams who are feeling this exact gap. If this resonates, I'd genuinely like to hear how your team handles quality review today. #elearning #instructionaldesign #qualityassurance

Imagine producing complete videos with just a description. Traditional video production often involves complex software and significant time investment. Iterations can be slow, requiring extensive manual adjustments. This can hinder agile content strategies. New AI capabilities allow users to generate entire video sequences from simple text prompts. These systems build everything from virtual presenters and voiceovers to scene-by-scene visuals. All elements remain fully editable for rapid adjustments without full regeneration. How will this reshape your content strategy?
