Joel Neoh changed my life permanently. 12 years ago, on 14th February 2011 344pm, Joel and Anisha Sasheendran gave me an offer letter to join Groupon Malaysia as an Inside Sales Manager (glorified name of telesales agent). During yesterday, 14th February 2023 Joel's farewell at Fave Malaysia office, somehow at 344pm, I felt that I could have gotten offer letter to join Joel on 14th February, but I was not sure. Browse through all the emails and found the offer letter was sent exactly at 344pm 12 years ago on Valentine's Day 2011. That is serendipity. That opportunity to join Joel, came when he sent me via Facebook message at 429am on 6th Feb 2011 during CNY break, to ask for a chat, which I turned up in shorts and slippers, and he brought Anisha, which together changed my life. As I joined Groupon Malaysia after serving 2 months notice at JobStreet.com, I came in and he doesnt need Inside Sales Manager. I was doing random stuff and on the 3rd Friday, Joel asked me for lunch and said why not I became COO. He took chance on someone who have never even properly managed a team before and put me into leadership role. Thanks for the trust. In March 2015, when I told him I got a couple of job opportunities, and I am thinking to leave Groupon. He called me back from Japan during his ski holidays, to say why not we start a company together. And the rest is history. Thanks Joel for everything and you have always been inspiring and charting all the key journeys for the past 12 years. You promised me learning journey 12 years ago, and I got much more than that. I don't know how to repay you for that. Am sure you will go very far, and I will always be rooting for you. Together with rest of Fave leadership team, we will surely take very good care of Fave, and strive hard to scale further. Thanks Amrish Rau and Pine Labs for believing in us and continuously supporting us. Looking forward to work closely with you, learn from you and we will make sure that Fave will scale well sustainably! Thanks Amrish for offering a permanent office to Joel at Fave's office, and yesterday, Joel cut the ribbon at his favourite meeting room. That room, Joel will permanently has first and only priority!
