Every room has a pattern. And every pattern has a tell. Four patterns where the surface misleads you: 1. The Disagreement Filter: same position, different language, read as conflict. You waste an hour managing tension that was never there. 2. The Polite Stall: everyone nods, real opinions surface later. Decisions get made twice — once in the room, once outside it. 3. The Gravity Problem: hierarchy speaks, people agree with the title not the idea. You lose the best input in the room without knowing it. 4. The Groan Zone: sounds like chaos, still progress. You intervene and kill the momentum that was about to land. Every senior professional has been in all four rooms. The difference isn't experience. It's pattern recognition.
