How National Grid scaled their drone operations with Dronedesk ⚙️ In our National Grid case study, we explore how one of the UK’s largest utility companies streamlined drone operations across more than 22,000 towers — each with its own precise location data. “Over 22,000 towers, and they've all got a what3words address, they've all got a latitude and longitude, and they've all got a six-figure grid reference. Some of the other companies didn't seem sure their database could cope with that much data. But Dronedesk said, ‘"No problem — we can handle that" Matti W. Unmanned Aerial Systems Lead, National Grid They’re one of hundreds of drone teams across the UK, US and EU using Dronedesk to plan smarter, work safer, and scale faster. Your voice is needed for the FAA’s BVLOS drone regulation. In mid-August, the FAA released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on enabling autonomous unmanned aerial system operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS). This proposal introduces new Parts 108 and 146, alters right-of-way rules, and sets requirements that will impact all who share low-altitude airspace. Comments are due October 6, 2025. 🛰️ Understanding Airspace for Drone Pilots Before operating any drone, it’s important to know where you can and can’t fly. The National Airspace System is divided into Class B, C, D, E, and G, each with different rules and altitude limits. For example, Class B covers the busiest airports and requires special authorization, while Class G is generally uncontrolled and open for drone operations. Learning about airspace maps and ATC authorization is a key step toward safe and legal flight. #UAS #DroneSafety #AviationKnowledge #TNTech #WeAreTNTech Michael Nattrass

🚁 The Future of FAA 108 — What Pilots Need to Know The FAA’s proposed Part 108 rule could change everything about how drone pilots operate in the U.S. Here’s what’s inside the proposal — and why it matters: 📍 Permits vs Certificates: Two approval paths depending on operation risk level. 📍 BVLOS Integration: Opening the door for long-distance drone operations. 📍 Security & Oversight: New TSA involvement for major drone programs. 📍 Hardware Compliance: Some popular models may no longer qualify. 📍 Data Service Providers: Airspace will be managed through digital providers. 💡 Whether you’re a solo 107 pilot or part of a larger company, this rule could determine how far your drone business can fly in 2026 and beyond. 💬 What’s the biggest challenge you see with FAA 108 — cost, compliance, or innovation? #FAA108 #BVLOS #DronePilot #FAA107 #DroneBusiness #DroneIndustry #Innovation #DroneTechnology #Regulations #UAV #DroneCommunity #AerialTech #DroneNews #TechTrends #FutureOfWork

🚁 FAA Is Pushing Hard on Drone Rulemaking — Here’s What You Need to Know The latest on Part 108 and how it’s shaping the drone industry: 1. The FAA refused to extend the NPRM comment deadline. Oct 6 is locked in. 2. New regulations bring TSA security oversight into drone operations. 3. The draft rule proposes allowing drones up to 1,320 lbs to fly BVLOS under performance standards. 4. But not everyone’s happy — AOPA and pilot groups are pushing to refine right-of-way, data use, and transparency. If you fly drones commercially, this isn’t just policy — it’s your future playing field. 💬 What part of this draft excites you — payload, range, or more operational flexibility? Which part worries you — cost, compliance, or safety? #FAA108 #DroneTechnology #DroneBusiness #BVLOS #FAA107 #Regulations #Innovation #DroneIndustry #AerialTech #UAV
