The battlefield is changing, fast. The Netherlands just announced it will embed specialized drone and counter-drone units into every combat brigade starting in April, deploying between 1,000 and 1,200 personnel dedicated solely to drone operations. Academyaviationgroup According to their Chief of Defence, they're the first NATO nation to take this step. Drone usage continues to rise across the globe — in conflict zones, in crowded airspace, and closer to home than most people realize. The message from military leaders worldwide is becoming impossible to ignore: this isn't a future threat. It's a present one. The question for public safety and defense operators isn't whether to take drone threats seriously. It's whether they're equipped to respond. #CounterUAS #DroneDefense #PublicSafety #DefenseAviation #DavenportAviation

UK ramps up counter-drone operations across Middle East UK forces have stepped up counter-drone operations across the Middle East, with ground-based units intercepting Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles and additional air defense systems deployed to bolster regional security, according to an update from theUK Ministry of Defence. A British counter-drone unit operating in a high-threat environment shot down multiple Iranian drones over successive nights, including a confirmed engagement on March 25. The previous day, UK troops intercepted 14 kamikaze drones in a single night, marking the highest number downed by UK forces in one engagement to date. #CounterUAS #Drones #Defense #MiddleEast #UK https://lnkd.in/es6Rs2bG

Air Force battle lab to develop counter-drone SOPs for U.S. air base defense The United States Air Force is preparing to run a series of counter-drone exercises with industry partners throughout 2026 as part of a new effort to develop standardized operating procedures for defending air bases from unmanned threats. The 319th Reconnaissance Wing plans to conduct exercises each month of 2026 where companies can demonstrate counter-drone technologies for potential Air Force use. This follows an announcement made by JIATF-401 earlier this week, which introduced standardized testing guidelines for the assessment of new counter-sUAS technologies, which suggests an increased focus on aligning counter-drone efforts across the Department of War. #CounterUAS #Defense #Drones #USAF #BaseDefense #Industry https://lnkd.in/em67BBf9

Effective air base defense now hinges on the ability to neutralize evolving unmanned threats with precision and speed. As the United States Air Force battle lab moves to standardize counter-UAS operating procedures, Windlift remains committed to delivering the technical reliability required for enabling these mission-critical environments.

Norway has introduced a new counter-drone capability at Evenes Air Station as part of a broader rollout of Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems across its air bases. The system is supplied by UK-based OSL Technology, recently acquired by Danish defence company Terma Group, and installed in cooperation with the Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency (FMA). #Defence #CounterDrone #CUAS #Norway #Europeandefence #Nordic https://lnkd.in/ePERrP-r

Pentagon Pushes sUAS, Services Build Drone-Savvy Troops Marines at The Basic School, a requirement for all new officers, are being taught how to employ small drones for reconnaissance and strikes, during urban operations and in the use of counter-drone systems. To overcome logistical hurdles that come with schooling mass quantities of soldiers on drones, the Army's Maneuver Center of Excellence at Fort Benning, Georgia said it is using virtual UAS simulators to train new troops before they use enhanced optics to spot drones and simulate strikes. The Army's goal is not to turn every soldier into a certified pilot, but to ensure every soldier is familiar with a combat enabler they will encounter in future formations. https://lnkd.in/eCCx2Xw8 Our insights in the comments below. #innovation #strategy #technology

Ukrainian engineers have developed the Sunray laser system designed to destroy Russian drones. The mobile laser weapon can be mounted on a pickup truck and silently engage aerial targets. Its key advantage is cost efficiency — the system is significantly cheaper than traditional air defense solutions and could change the economics of countering drones on the battlefield. The mass use of cheap strike and reconnaissance UAVs has become one of the defining features of modern warfare, forcing air defense systems to spend expensive missiles on relatively inexpensive targets. Laser weapons like Sunray offer a promising alternative, capable of destroying drones almost instantly with a very low cost per shot while strengthening Ukraine’s mobile air defense capabilities. 🚀 Read more - https://lnkd.in/dq9rGv8g #StandWithUkraine #DefenseTech #MilitaryTechnology #AirDefense #DroneWarfare #CounterDrone #Security #Innovation #DefenseIndustry
