Brett Sitter’s Post

Unfortunately, I am now in the club with so many people called “Your role has been eliminated”. I always felt so safe in my sustainability role at Andersen, but even as great of a company that Andersen was, Corporate America still found me this morning and decided to eliminate my position. Personally I have never understood the thought process behind job elimination. It crushes morale, sets back teams and most importantly, your employees lose trust. Without trust, no one operates at 100% of their potential. When will corporations wake up and realize that job elimination is not the way to conduct business. For those that know me, know that I am glass half full type of person and always have a few irons in the fire. I have a good feeling with one of those irons and excited for the next chapter of my life. I look forward to what is next and how I can continue to drive change for the better! Oh, and if anyone wants to grab coffee, hit me up, I have some free time now. 😉

Maybe it is time to become an employer who would never decide to eliminate roles.

My role was eliminated after 17 years...and a larger workload than some of my peers. A senior leader had to ask me if I was okay taking on so much and I thought "job security." No. Unfortunately, after spending 1/3 of my life with the same company, I was just a number. My clearance, tenure and workload did not matter. They just handed my work off to others. I landed well and am happier. I wish the very best to you and your future endeavors. You got this.

If you can see the WFR Reaper, it can see you. If you cannot see the WFR Reaper, you could be seconds from your role being made redundant. Sorry to hear this has happened to you Brett it can be pretty confronting, I know all too well myself having experienced it. Stay strong and positive through the days, weeks & months ahead. You nailed it when you drew the conclusion this is not about you, this is absolutely about the Corporateocracy. I am sure there is another opportunity for you out there somewhere, and hopefully, like it was for me, this is a blessing in disguise for you. Please check for jobs Hitachi Vantara and see if there's anything we have going that fits your skills, experience & talents.

Brett, you're an invaluable innovator and an amazing guy, as well. I'd rank you a 20 on a 1-10. If I can do something let me know.

Brett, you have a great sense of humor, passion, and friendliness about you. I will share any contacts with you that I have! Reach out anytime.

Happy Polar Bears & Andersen showed the impact you create — the kind that actually matters. Your brain’s always on, always building, and a layoff won’t dim that momentum. Can’t wait to see what you create next❣️

Sorry to hear, Brett. Having been in this situation (twice) I empathize. It always seemed to be a poor use of valuable human resources. Give yourself the space to grieve and readjust. I'd be happy to chat if you're willing to talk about woodworking. 😁 (Or anything else, really.)

Sorry to hear that, and it's sad that the space of 'sustainability' which should be having maximum attention of the world, is losing the talent & experience. I am sure you will find your place again. All the best.
