follow up to my other post about showing up as an actor.
we are starting callbacks on one project while starting to cast the next.
we always email people who didn't submit a tape to let them know that we didn't get a tape and that's why we aren't able to consider them for a callback. partially because it lets them know that is just a completed thing and i think that's important. and partially because in case they did submit it but something happened and we didn't get it, they can let us know and we can sort it out.
but then we get replies like this when we send out the "sorry, we didn't recieve your tape so we're unable to consider you further for this project" email:
"I am so sorry. I got caught up with a trip to Vegas with my bestie. I completely spaced that she was going to help me."
(i wish i was making that up. we got that email word-for-word this morning.)
not to get too motivational speaker-y, but if you're not really getting far chasing your dreams, ask yourself how much you're actually chasing your dreams. because not turning in a tape for an audition when you at least have the chance will probably 100% for sure mean you won't get that role.
i'm not going to dive in on how hard dreams are, and how much work, and how much someone does or doesn't do, or privilege, or anything else.
just for this, specifically, as i said in one of my last posts - when you have an opportunity, take it.

I wonder what happens with this in my Dutch accent. Should I?
