The new 2025 Digital Accessibility Index shows a worrying pattern: many companies still struggle with the basics — navigation, readability, usability. It’s a reminder that accessibility issues aren’t edge cases. They’re systemic. When design misses the fundamentals — clear structure, consistent controls, readable content — trust quietly erodes. I often see teams polishing what’s visible while the foundation cracks underneath. And when the foundation wobbles, everything above it does too. If you ran a quick scan of your site right now, how many hidden accessibility gaps would it reveal — before your audience does? I have no affiliation with either of these sites: Basic free scan: https://lnkd.in/gu_wQDqe Technical free scan: https://wave.webaim.org/

***CREATING TRULY ACCESSIBLE WEBSITES*** Quick question: have you ever tested your website with a screen reader? Or tried navigating it using only your keyboard? Most businesses haven't. And that's a problem when 16.1 million people in the UK rely on assistive technologies to browse the web. Earlier this year, we published a comprehensive guide on creating accessible websites. Not just ticking WCAG compliance boxes, but genuinely understanding how people with different abilities experience your digital presence. The guide covers everything from colour contrast ratios and alt text to keyboard navigation and form design. But more importantly, it explains the why behind each recommendation. Because here's the thing: accessibility isn't about adding features for "other people". It's about recognising that we all interact with websites differently. Someone with a visual impairment today might be someone with a broken arm tomorrow, or someone trying to browse in bright sunlight, or an elderly relative unfamiliar with modern interfaces. Good accessibility is just good design. If you've been meaning to audit your site but don't know where to start, this guide breaks it down step by step: https://lnkd.in/e2bxuWBP Or if you'd prefer expert eyes on your specific site, we offer accessibility reviews. Website accessibility is about creating a better online experience for everyone. When all users, including those with disabilities, can easily navigate, read, and interact with your site, it makes your brand more inclusive and leads to better business results. Accessible websites reach more people, perform better in search, and build stronger trust with visitors. Beyond that, accessibility is no longer optional. The EU Accessibility Act 2025 is now in force, making compliance mandatory for businesses that offer online services in certain sectors. In short: when everyone can use your site, your business stays compliant & everyone wins.

The best websites aren’t just beautiful, they’re inclusive. Accessibility means every user, regardless of ability, can navigate and engage with ease. It’s not a legal checkbox, it’s good design practice. Empathy is innovation in action. Because design should empower, not exclude. #Accessibility #InclusiveDesign #WebInnovation

Sometimes in the accessibility space, we assume our audience fully understands the challenges we help address—making digital content usable and accessible for individuals who rely on assistive technology. In reality, many organizations still struggle to clearly communicate these concepts to internal stakeholders. That’s why I’m excited to co-host an upcoming webinar that gets back to the fundamentals. Aaron Page, our VP of Accessibility, will demonstrate the difference between accessible and inaccessible websites and documents—navigating each in real time using his screen reader, just as he does every day in his personal and professional life. It’s often said that seeing is believing—in this case, you’ll both see and hear what true accessibility (and inaccessibility) looks and feels like.
Does your organization truly understand who accessibility impacts, how it impacts them, and why it’s important to prioritize it—especially as ADA #TitleII deadlines loom? It may be time to rewind, rethink, and reset—to create digital experiences that work for everyone. Join Daniel Sullivan and Aaron Page on Wednesday, November 5, at 1:00 PM ET / 10:00 AM PT for a live webinar that explores digital accessibility through the lens of a blind screen reader user. You'll experience the difference between accessible and inaccessible websites and PDFs, understand the human impact of accessibility barriers, and gain practical insights to help your organization prioritize accessibility.
