Was company law your favourite subject in law school? That was never the case for me. (My favourite subject was evidence law but that’s another post for another day.) As a law student with no immediate family members in the corporate world and with no entrepreneurial ambitions (I still don’t), I did not find company law relatable. It was structured but, without yet having the benefit and experience of seeing it applied in practice, monotonous. So if someone had told me all those years ago that I would be working on the annotated statutes of the Malaysian Companies Act for LexisNexis one day, I would have received this with extreme scepticism. As a practitioner however, I have since grown to become fond of it. As a company is the most common vehicle for doing business, I cannot think of many other sets of laws with as much impact on modern business as company law. Last week, my team and I are very pleased to have completed our submission for the sections we are tasked with for the updated annotations for 2023; marking our second time working with LexisNexis on this publication. I am very grateful to my team members Wan Xin Lee, Thivya Manokaran and Jamie Cheong for their hard work on this project. I am very glad that I am in your good company. #LHAG #CompanyLaw #LexisNexis #LexisNexisMY
