WIP UPDATE PART 2 for Opal, my newest 3D cinematic short in Epic Games. In this video, I share a key tip for re-targeting mocap from the Move AI rig onto the UE Manny rig, which will hopefully save all the first-time users out there a lot of animation cleanup. Now that the mocap filming is done, I can finalize rigging and lock in cinematography and story pacing. Next WIP update coming next week! #WorkInProgress #UnrealEngine #MoveAI #MoCap #3DAnimation #UE5 #MetaHuman #Cinematics #Kenematics

1, Merging the “break physical limits” spirit of Transformers with SmallRig’s mission to “break creative boundaries” is the core of this collaboration. But breaking boundaries doesn’t always mean massive change—sometimes, it’s the small optimizations that move creators forward. That’s why we set the film in a real shooting scenario, showing how Bumblebee—and SmallRig—come to the rescue during unexpected equipment failures. 🤔 2, How did we bring Bumblebee on set? Through seamless CGI integration. Every mechanical detail was lit to match the gritty factory environment, while motion tracking synced Bumblebee’s movements with the actor’s actions in real time. 💪

This scene was so intense, it almost melted ILM’s computers. In Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009), the Devastator sequence featured a 52,632-part, 11.7-million-polygon model one of the most complex in VFX history. ILM’s animators joked about their computers “melting” while rendering it… and it wasn’t far from the truth. The sheer computational power required to bring this beast to life earned the model a Guinness World Record for its complexity. Can you imagine what their render times looked like? #sangeliaworldwide #transformers #vfx #cgi #michaelbay #filmfacts #moviehistory #hollywood #animation #devastator #vfxartists #cinematography

Cinematic shots aren’t about expensive gear. They’re about decisions. This course finally taught me which ones to make - and when. For years, 'cinematic' felt like a vibe I couldn’t explain. After diving into Cinegram’s Cinematography & Filmmaking modules, it clicked: story first, light second, polish third. Bite-sized lessons, real workflows, and a resource hub I can return to when I’m stuck. What stood out: Visual storytelling, not just camera settings: composing shots that say something, not just look sharp. Lighting and colour that carry emotion: practical setups and colour grading fundamentals that actually change the feel. Edit with intent: pacing, pattern interrupts, and on-brand captions that keep people watching. Assets: templates and editing packs that speed up the whole process. Early wins you can swipe: Plan sequences, not single shots: wide → medium → detail to build rhythm fast. Cut silence first: tighten the waveform, then add B‑roll and captions to guide attention. A big well done to Ragib Choudhury and the team at Cinegrams on making a cohesive step by step course that allows anyone to achieve the desired outlook of their footage. #Cinematography #Filmmaking #PersonalDevelopment #Marketing

In a world racing toward automation, one filmmaker is fighting to keep the human touch alive 🎬✨. Guillermo del Toro has joined forces with Netflix and the prestigious Gobelins School of Animation to create a new stop-motion studio in France — a space that will serve both as a creative lab and a school. This initiative aims to protect handcrafted animation from the rise of AI-driven production, celebrating the art of building every frame by hand. The studio will also honor the late Mark Gustafson, co-director of Pinocchio, and begin work on del Toro’s next project, The Buried Giant by Kazuo Ishiguro. For del Toro, stop motion is more than a technique — it’s a testament to imagination, patience, and humanity. Do you think stop-motion storytelling will survive in the age of AI? 💭 • For more, visit: https://lnkd.in/ecUnNYTg • #FilmmakerLife #WorldClassFilmAwards #WCFA #onset #filmmakerslife #theworldclassfilmawards #filmmakerlifemagazine #filmfreeway #GuillermodelToro #StopMotion #Netflix #Animation #Filmmaking #Cinema #Creativity #Artistry #Pinocchio #TheBuriedGiant

VFX and CGI two words we hear in almost every movie or ad discussion. But are they really the same thing? Not quite. While VFX (Visual Effects) blends real footage with digital elements, CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) creates visuals entirely from scratch. Together, they make the impossible look real from flying superheroes to futuristic cityscapes. In this article, we break down the difference between the two, how they work hand in hand, and why understanding them matters for filmmakers, brands, and creators alike. Read the full story and see where creativity meets technology - https://lnkd.in/dwKpscS5 [VFX, CGI, VisualEffects, ComputerGeneratedImagery, Filmmaking, PostProduction, VFXArtist, CinematicMagic, DigikoreStudios]
