As of this week Alipay China now accepts American Express as a funding source, allowing inbound travelers to China to use their American Express card with Alipay. This allows them to use their Amex through Alipay to transact with millions of merchants across China, including rail tickets, restaurants and other merchants that do not accept foreign credit cards. I bought my ticket from Shanghai to Hangzhou with my Amex through Alipay. Took the team to dinner and bought countless coffees at the expo center (jet lag) Proud of the Ant Group team that made this happen!
